Dear colleagues,

ICTP will be celebrating the 2022 International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 11 February. The UN's International Day puts a spotlight on the challenges that women scientists face and the benefits that equality can bring to everyone.

There are many ways to celebrate the day!

On Friday 11 February, from 9:30 to 11, by the ICTP Reading Room (next to bar), in the Leonardo Building, ICTP staff, researchers and students can visit an exhibit of statistics and a book display, take part in an interactive activity, discuss strategies regarding women scientists at ICTP with colleagues and fellow scientists. Snacks will be served!

ICTP is also organising a virtual event for high schools, featuring a talk by ICTP scientists Erika Coppola and Anna Pirani, called "Scienziate per il Cambiamento Climatico" (in Italian). The event will take place on Zoom, at 11:30am. Download the flyer here.

Follow our social media campaign with the hashtag #WomenatICTP on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, featuring women scientists with a strong connection to ICTP. Let us know who your role model female scientists are.

Our sister organization OWSD, in collaboration with the International Science Council, is hosting a virtual presentation of 10 new short films featuring women scientists from around the world. The event will be launched by a panel discussion on "Case Studies: Approaches to Storytelling in Science". For more information, visit: https://council.science/events/women-in-science-film-festival/

The Pak-ICTP Alumni Society ( PIAS), in collaboration with the International Commission for Optics: Territorial Committee of Pakistan, QAU Physics Optica Chapter, Active learning in Optics (ALO) Group at Quaid-i-Azam University and SPIE are celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science with two talks by two renowned speakers in the field of Optics, Prof. Maria Yzuel and Prof. Anna Consortini. The online event will take place on 11 February, at 6PM (PKT) / 2PM CET, and it can be followed live in PIAS's Facebook page.
