ICTP is pleased to announce the forthcoming ICTP Colloquium
on "Atoms in Intense Light Fields", by Professor Robin Santra.
The talk will take place TODAY 17 April 2018 at 16:30 hrs,
in the Budinich Lecture Hall, Leonardo Building, ICTP.
Robin Santra is a professor of theoretical physics jointly
appointed by DESY and the University of Hamburg. His
accomplishments include the prediction of electronic hole
dynamics and alignment in optical strong-field ionization, and
predictions that motivated and supported the first experiments
at the x-ray free-electron laser LCLS. He has been awarded the
IUPAP Young Scientist Prize in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical
Physics and has received the U.S. Presidential Early Career
Award (PECASE). He is a Fellow of the American Physical
Society.
Abstract: Prof. Santra will present recent developments at the interface between attosecond science and x-ray science. In this context, he will discuss theoretical models of nonperturbative light-matter interactions and the performance of these models in comparison with experiment.
