To ICTP Scientists, Staff and visitors:

Once again, the ICTP is happy to host an event by pupils from the Trieste Secondary School "G. Corsi" in the form of a video production with the participation of ICTP scientists: Atish Dabohlkar, Najmeh Faroozani, Obinna Kennedy Idu, Muhammad Nawaz Qaisrani, Fernando Villegas and Don Zagier.

After presenting the intriguing personalities of Nikola Tesla, Hypatia and last year's "R.U.R. Rossum’s Universal Robots" in the form of plays, this year the Guido Corsi pupils have prepared a video, "Ramanujan" (Sreenivasa Ramanujan, 1887 – 1920), the Indian mathematician and autodidact who lived under the British Raj. You may have seen the recent film "The man who knew infinity" that tells his story.

The school's video production is inspired by the life of Ramanujan and reinterprets some aspects of his life, especially during the early years. Questions such as how inspiring was the story of Ramanujan's life, or what lessons could one draw from his experience, what is "creativity", where is it to be found, where does an idea come from, how does one recognize a genius, is school necessary, and so on ...  are just some of the questions students have raised during their interviews with the ICTP scientists.

The video "Ramanujan" will be screened on Thursday 9 March 2017 in the Budinich Lecture Hall, Leonardo Building, ICTP at 11:00 hrs and at 17:30 hrs (in Italian with English subtitles).

You are all most welcome to attend any of the two shows!
