TWAS - Paolo Budinich and the dream of science
in the South.
Who was Paolo Budinich and
what is the legacy he left to TWAS and, more broadly, to the
Trieste System?
These questions will be
the focus of a public event that The World Academy of Sciences
– TWAS – has organized to celebrate the centennial of Paolo
Budinich's birth.
The event will be held tomorrow, Friday 2 September, at 18:00
in Sala Veruda, Palazzo Costanzi, immediately behind Piazza
Unita'. TWAS Executive Director Mohamed H.A. Hassan and
ICTP/SISSA physicist Erio Tosatti will remember Budinich and
his passion for science.
The free event, both in
Italian and English, is titled: TWAS – Paolo Budinich
and the dream of science in the South. It will offer a portrait
of Budinich's work and life, shedding light on events that
have shaped the emergence of Trieste as a global capital of
science and an enduring partner to science in the developing
world.
