The
U.S. Department of State
introduced restrictions on Visa Waiver Program,
which so far has allowed citizens of 38 countries, including
Italy, to
enter the country without a visa.
Individuals
who have travelled to or been present in
Iran, Iraq, Sudan, or Syria on or after 1st March
2011 or have citizenship of one of these countries,
must apply in advance for a visa to enter at a US
Embassy or consulate.
Exceptions
are provided for
diplomats, journalists and staff of international NGOs on
humanitarian mission, but they will be evaluated case by case.
Furthermore in emergency situations (for work, health or
humanitarian necessity) US embassies and consulates are
available to implement
urgent procedures. More information on the website of
the US Embassy in Italy.
CWT
offices are available for further needs.
