APRIL  - We’re Celebrating the EARTH!  Documentaries, Short Stories, Family Film in theme.  Check our blog and Like our Facebook Page to keep track of all the appointments!  Spring English Courses begin on April 7th and Registration is open for Summer STEAM and May Weekend Warrior Intensive Courses.  Are you curious yet?  Read on!

SUMMER STEAM WEEKS for Kids and Teens at AIA FVG
STEAM Weeks:  exciting, hands-on learning opportunity for young people, applying integrated skills and Project Based Learning with emphasis on the STEAM curriculum areas (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) in English.  You will learn by doing, and having fun…in English.  The groups are divided by class level:  Pre-School, Elementary, Middle and High School, with thematic weeks. For both Native and Non -Native Speakers. Here is the link for detailsSpace is limited. 
 
CONFERENCE:  JAPANESE ANIMATED MOVIES through AMERICAN EYES – Open to the Public – Guest Speaker:  Dr. Ogihara-Schuck, Visiting Scholar from Dortmund through Erasmus.

Apr 2Earth: the Operator’s Manual (PBS 2012, 60 min.)  A report on the interconnected stories of humans, fossil fuels, the Earth’s climate history and future energy options.    
Apr 9 An Inconvenient Truth (2006, 50 min.)  Former Vice President Al Gore’s presentation of the danger of global warming.
Apr 16 –Earth Days  (PBS 2009, 102 min.)  From the birth of the modern environmental movement in the 1950’s to the first 1970 Earth Day Celebration. 
Apr 23 – Wasteland (2009, 95 min.)  Vik Muniz, Brazilian- American artist, and local garbage pickers transform recyclable materials from the world’s largest garbage dump into works of art.

ITALIAN SURVIVAL CONVERSATION GROUP for ITALIAN LANGUAGE LEARNERS – Open to the Public - We have 2 groups meeting each week: 
Every TUESDAY 11-12 – Italian Survival Conversation for MOMS with BABIES (0-3yrs)
Every THURSDAY 11-12 – Italian Survival Conversation for ADULTS (WITHOUT Babies) 
Make sure that you get the right day!  Start to speak. No stress. No charge.  Don’t worry about making mistakes!  Practical everyday Italian. 
 
MOM and BABY (0-3 years) PLAYGROUP in ENGLISH – Open to the Public
Every THURSDAY from 10:30-12. Bring your baby.  Hang out with other moms. Speak English.  Get out of the house!
 
WINE, CHEESE and BOOKS – Apr. 16  at 8 pm
The group is reading any book by Beppe Severgnini, the Italian journalist loves to comment on American, British and Italian behavior. Want to participate? Send an e-mail aia.fvg@gmail.com.
 
AC TC – American Corner Teen Club meets every Friday afternoon from 5- 7 pmFree and Open to all Middle and High School StudentsSAVE THE DATE:  May 16th The Teen Club is organizing a Roman Themed Murder Mystery Dinner for all Middle School and High School Students who take group or individual courses with us.  Lots of fun and pizza for everybody! Details coming soon.
 
FRIDAY FAMILY FILM NIGHT – Open to the Public
Apr. 24 - 5 pm – ELMO Goes Green (PBS Sesame Street, 47 min.). Elmo learns how to respect the Earth and recycle.
 
SAVE THE DATE: June 6, 6 pm - PRE-SCHOOL and ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – ICE CREAM SOCIAL GRADUATION– More details in May. 
 
AMERICAN CORNER TRIESTE – Programs, consultation of the library, public internet access computers, and Wi-Fi are always free and open to the public.  It’s a great place to study, meet friends, bring your kids.  The US Department of State has granted us a Gold Standard rating in terms of programs, facilities, services! In addition to our regular library, we also feature and Education Advising Section, Children’s Corner Library and Women’s Space. 
 
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Remember that we are a volunteer organization.  We are looking for people to work in the afternoons at the Front Desk, manage library checkouts, mentors for teens and a variety of other roles.  Contact us!  We’ll keep you busy!
