Live experiments with spectacular and unexpected reactions will be
the focus of the first performance in Italy of the internationally
renowned Bonn Physics Show, to be held Friday, 27 March, at 11:00 in
the auditorium of the old SISSA Building.
The event, organized by ICTP, in collaboration with SISSA and
Imaginario Scientifico, will be held in English and is aimed at
people of all ages.
The famous Higgs boson will be the protagonist of the special
performance by a group of physics students from the University of
Bonn. The show's two main characters will accompany viewers on an
adventure that will lead them into the fascinating world of
particle physics, the fundamental building blocks of nature. Along
the way, meet luminaries like Rutherford, the discoverer of the
nucleus, Lawrence, the inventor of the modern accelerator, and
physicists working at CERN in the LHC tunnel.
WHEN: Friday 27 March, 11:00 (duration: 95 minutes)
WHERE: Old SISSA Building auditorium, via Beirut 4
Entrance is free, and all are invited!
The Bonn Physics Show is the brainchild of Herbert Dreiner,
theoretical physicist, and Michael Kortmann. It aims to present
physics in an easily understandable and entertaining way to an
audience of all ages. For almost fifteen years the shows have been
carried out with great success in Germany and other European
locations, renewing every year with the turnover of students and
with the contribution of new ideas.
