Some background info: "Bavisela" is the name of a breeze that gently ruffles your hair when walking. Back in 1994, about 200 members and some 50 rowers of the Societa' Canottieri Nettuno at Trieste decided to create an event on land that would take place during the traditional yearly rowing regatta held just off Barcola. They came up with a short run up to the Miramare Castle, ultimately combining sports and fun for all. Over the next two decades this simple initiative evolved into a half marathon (1996) and a 7 km non-competitive event open to all age groups. In 2000 a third competition, the European Marathon, for professional runners, got starte and is well known all over Europe.
