A meeting to discover paleoanthropology’s scientific revolution
Paleoanthropology in the last years has been going through an exceptional transformation that has allowed to make amazing discoveries (like, for instance, that Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis in ancient times underwent hybridization), and will enable many more in the future.
Such renovation is connected to the use of cutting-edge and multidisciplinary scientific analysis methodologies: paleogenetics, microTAC, increasingly advanced dating methods, and much more. Claudio Tuniz, a professor of ICTP, on the occasion of the next colloquium at SISSA, to be held on 18 September at 4pm, will illustrate to the public the scientific revolution of paleoanthropology and also address about some of his most recent studies.
La paleoantropologia negli ultimi anni attraversa una trasformazione senza pari che ha già permesso scoperte sorprendenti (come per esempio che Homo sapiens e Homo neanderthalensis in tempi remoti si sono ibridati), e molte di più ne offrirà in futuro. Questo rinnovamento è legato all'uso di metodologie di analisi scientifica d'avanguardia e multidiscilpinari: la paleogenetica, la microTAC, le tecniche di datazione sempre più avanzate, e molto altro ancora. Claudio Tuniz, professore dell'ICTP, nel prossimo colloquium della SISSA, che si terrà il 18 settembre alle 16.00, spiegherà al pubblico questa rivoluzione scientifica nella paleoantrolpologia e racconterà alcuni dei suoi studi più recenti.
