THEATRE -

At the Rossetti Theatre:

- "Macbeth" (Viale XX Settembre 45) on 22, 23 and 24/11 at 20.30; extra show on Sunday 25/11 at 16.00.  A new mise-en-scene of the renowned Shakespearean tragedy  under the direction of Andrea De Rosa performed by Giuseppe Battiston and Frédérique Loliée . - "Bulli e Pupe" (Sala Assicurazioni Generali) on 28/11 at 17.00. The funniest, colourful Broadway musical, based on a story by Abe Burrows, with the immortal music by Frank Loesser , directed by Corrado Abati. On stage more than 20 performers with great voices, wonderful costumes and breathtaking ballets. The show made its debut at Broadway  in 1950 and counted over 1200 replicas (almost 5 years continuously) In 1951 it won the best musical award! CLASSICAL MUSIC

At the Rossetti Theatre- Sala Bartoli Wunderkammer has organized a concert by Frederick Haas.  On Friday 23/11 at 21.00: J.S.Bach - Goldberg variation. At the Verdi Theatre (Piazza Verdi) on Saturday 24/11 at 20.30 and Sunday 25/11 at 16.00: "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" (The Barber of Seville), an opera buffa in two acts based on the libretto by Cesare Sterbini, music by Gioacchino Rossini. This is one of the greatest masterpieces of musical comedy. The premiere took place on 20 February 1816 at the Teatro Argentina in Rome and was a disastrous failure. However, the second performance was a roaring success and even after two hundred years, its popularity attests its greatness.  The orchestra is directed by Maestro Corrado Rovaris and the chorus by Maestro Paolo Vero. MUSEUM

Visit the Sartorio Museum, an ancient 18th century Villa that belonged to a rich merchant family. There are beautiful rooms with antique furniture and important art collections, paintings, jewellery, furnitures, silverware as well as 254 drawings by Tiepolo (1696-1770, a famous Venetian artist), Santa Chiara's triptic and more recently, Fittcke's paintings. Ticket euro 5,50.  The Sartorio is situated in Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII, n.1, open Tuesday - Sunday 9:00 - 13:00. Take bus 30.

 

FOR KIDS (3-7 YEARS)

" Fiabe al cioccolato" (Chocolate tales) at the Fabbri Theatre (Via dei Fabbri 2, close to Piazza Hortis) tales and hot chocolate for children. FOR CHILDREN (8-12 YEARS)

"Alimentation Lab" at the Science Center "Immaginario Scientifico" - Grignano on Sunday 25/11 at 10.30 and 11.30. Two appointments for families and children, aged 8 years and over, who will learn together about the fun world of vitamins B, analyzing and experimenting "on the field" the optimal amount of vitamins to take every day, understanding what is an integrator or if cooking  food alters the quantity and quality of the vitamins contained in it. MISCELLANEOUS

At the Ariston Cinema (Viale Romolo Gessi 14 - Buses 8, 9 & 15) on Monday 26/11 at 21.00: the documentary "Scorie di Liberta'" by Gianfanco Pannone. An interesting investigation on nuclear waste in the surroundings of the nuclear plant in Latina, near Rome.

 

At the American Corner (Via Roma 15) on Friday 23/11 at 18.00. Weekly appointment with American culture, arts, history, nature. This week the documentary "Beyond our Differences" (PBS - Public Broadcasting Service 70 minutes), gives us a multicultural view of religion, hope and optimism. Interviews with Dalai Lama and other religious. political, spiritual leaders. OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. These are all the activities open to the public at the American Corner - Trieste: Thursday Coffee Hour, Friday Documentary, Saturday Storytime, lectures and events.
