ART EXHIBITIONS

"La Strada invisibile della vita" (The invisible street of life), art exhibit by Slovenian sculptor Crt Valencak at the Conestabo Art Gallery (Display in Via Udine 2/1). His works are made of  bronze, Raku ceramic and earthenware. Ongoing until 27/10 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10.00 to 12.00 and on Fridays from 17.00 to 19.00. Free entrance. "Il porto, le navi e gli armatori dal 1818 al 1918" ("The maritime port, ships and ship owners from 1818 to 1918"), exhibition at the Hydrodynamic Plant in Trieste’s  Porto Vecchio, a charming 1890 newly restored building that was powered by water and functioning up to 1930 and is now a museum. At the Magazzino delle Idee (Corso Cavour) visit the photography exhibition entitled "Il mio carso. 100 anni 100 immagini" (My Karst, 100 years, 100 images), a tribute to Scipio Slataper (renowned Triestine author of the novel "My Karst" - 1912). Ongoing until 4/11, with the following schedule: Mondays and Thursdays from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 15.00 to 17.00; on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10.00 to 13.00; on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 10.00 to 20.00. CLASSICAL MUSIC

On Friday 26/10 at the Verdi Theatre:

- at 20.30 (and Saturday 27/10 at 18.00) symphony music by Ferruccio Busoni  (1866-1924); "Il sabato del villaggio", a poem by Giacomo Leopardi set to music for solo, chorus and orchestra. The Orchestra is directed by Maestro Donato Renzetti and the chorus by Maestro Paolo Vero.

- at 17.30: "Chamber Paths by great Masters": played by pianist Bruno de Caro and violinist Mirko D'Anna. Directed by Prof. Renato Zanettovich.

THEATRE

"The King's speech" at the Rossetti Theatre from 25/10 to 28/10 at 20.3; on 28/10, extra show  at 16.00.  An entertaining comedy in perfect balance between lightness and drama, full of irony and melancholy, but also comical. "Parties, dances and gossip" on Saturday 28/10 at 10.00 at the Revoltella Museum (Via Diaz 27). A creative workshop for kids 5-10 years old, where fashion, music,  dances and a glimpse of the life at Palace Revoltella is offered to the young. MISCELLANEOUS

"5KLESHA, Le afflizioni della mente", a videodance performance ongoing until 27/10 from 17.00 to 19.00 at the DoubleRoom (Via Canova 9, Trieste).  The Polish dancer Kaartik will be the protagonist of this show, that will be created on the spot, under your very eyes! Ongoing until 28th October at Teatro Miela (Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, 3) "Latin America Film Festival", the most important European festival  of  Latin American  films,  videos  and TV.  Over 180  films  and documentaries  on   historical,  social and artistic context of  Latin   America. The   program  also  includes   several retrospectives,   including  one dedicated  to  the  Mexican  director,  Luis  Estrada. Ongoing until 11/11 the Eleventh Edition of "Sapori del carso - Okusi Krasa" (Karst flavors), with  the  partecipation  of  a  large   number  of  restaurants,  bakeries  and food stores  offering local  gourmet  specialties  and  typical Karst  products. The  theme  of  this year  is "Backyards poultry" (hen, ducks, turkeys,etc.). Bakeries  prepare traditional  breads  and pastries. OUTSIDE TRIESTE

Visit the Casa Carsica at Repen - Monrupino (Carsic House) until the end of October, from 11.00 to 12.30 and from 15.00 to 17.00. It is a very well preserved example of the characteristic Carsic architcture which, within and enclosed courtyard, combines the living areas and the agricoltural buildings.
