At
Muggia (Negrisin Municipal art gallery): YOKO LENNON TITO- A conceptual
event and
a tribute to the symbolic meeting
between Yoko Ono, John Lennon and Josip Broz Tito, who was the head of
the
Yugoslav government for almost 40 years, an art lover and an amateur
photographer. At the end of the Sixties, John and Yoko sent to Tito
(and to
other 50 world leaders, as well) a couple of acorns to be planted in
the name
of peace in the world. Today, these acorns have turned into two
45-year-old
oaks. Ongoing until 14/10, Mondays
to Fridays: 10.00 - 12.00/17.00 - 20.00; on Saturdays and Sundays:
10.00 -
13.00 /17.00 - 20.00. Free entrance.
"FemminileReale",
travelling
photographic
exhibition, literally ongoing until 30/10. Ten shots of common women in
their
daily lives occupy the advertisement spaces on the city buses. Marisa
Ulcigrai
(Fotografaredonna Association) created this project in support of the
dignity
of women and as a protest against portraits of women used as consumer
goods.

In
the greenhouse of Villa Revoltella (via Marchesetti 37) "Frame", an art exhibition by Serena Bellini, ongoing
until 25/9. This exhibition is, at the same time, an occasion to
inaugurate the
renovated space of the greenhouse of the Villa, particularly suitable
to host a
collection of paintings focusing on flowers, landscapes and nature in
general.

Modern Art Gallery "Salone degli Incanti" (once a

an outstanding Photography
exhibition by photo reporter Monika Bulaj: "Nur/Luce Appunti

"Colei
che sola a me par donna". Women in humanist literature and daily life. At Palazzo Costanzi,

"Trieste NEXT" Event from 28 - 30
September 2012 A European Innovation and
Science
Research Forum
(28-30 September 2012), the first edition of a major event downtown and
a
laboratory in which applied research and new technologies, concrete
ideas and
solutions coexist and find practical application that can enhance
community
wealth and business competitiveness. Meetings, keynote speeches by
distinguished speakers, scientists, shows and performances will present
science
and its developments in an innovative way.
This edition is entitled “S.A.V.E. the FOOD”, with
a special
section focused on food in a tradion-vs-innovation perspective.
On Saturday,
29 September at 15:00 at the
Scuola Superiore di Lingue Moderne per interpreti e traduttori in via
Filzi, 14
(near piazza Oberdan) ICTP will present a Round Table on "Climate
Change:
What impact on developing countries?" with Filippo Giorgi, G. Spataro,
L.
Brito, C. Carraro, M. Jaroslav. And
also, on 29/9 at 15.00 in Piazza
Unità, ICTP will present "Non-numerical recipes: recipes from all over
the
world by the ICTP researchers and employees".

Revoltella
MUSEUM
The Baron and the
Archduke. Overseas dreams. Following the
success and great demand, there will
be a few replicas in September:
on Thursday, Friday and
Saturday (20 to 22 Sept.) at 19.00 & 20.30 and on Sunday 23rd at
11.00 and
18.00.
This
is a new story with new characters
(Maximilian of Austria and Empress Sissi, coming back to Trieste from
the Isle
of Madera) in a new touring show through the rooms of this wonderful
palace-museum.
Once again, you'll have the honour of meeting the Archduke Maximilian.

XIV Edition of Concerts at the Castle 2012, organized by the
Conservatorio
Giuseppe Tartini of Trieste. "Il fascino vocale dell'Ottocento" (The
vocal charm of the 19th century): music by Debussy, Verdi, Liszt,
Duparc,
Strauss, Rossini, Puccini and Massenet. Ms Rossella Fracaros, pianist,
will
accompany the Croatian singer Ms Mila Soldatic.
Final concert on
Tuesday 25/9: "Le suggestioni del canto romantico"
(The charm of romantic songs), with music by Brahms, Schubert and
Dvorak. The
events are free of charge; pay only

at Verdi
Theatre presents
music
by Ludwig Van Beethoven: Die Weihe des Hauses op.124 (overture) and

Orchestra
is directed by Maestro Wayne Marshall, the Chorus by Maestro Paolo

TRIESTE
The
Friuli Venezia Giulia TOURIST POINT at the corner of
Piazza
Unità organizes guided walking tours (in
Italian and English) every day at 10:30. On Saturdays, there
is
an additional tour at 16.30. This Saturday
22/9: Trieste, literary atmosphere. Each
tour lasts 2 hours and costs euro 5/head. There is
also the possibility of visiting the city by yourself with an

The
Miramare Castle is right next to the ICTP and is open every day from 9.00
to 18.30. Entrance to the surrounding park is free (8.00 - 19.00). The
castle
with its lovely decor and furnishings, paintings, rooms full of history
is not

The Duino Castle is
one of the most
attractive castles in Europe and is still the official residence of the
Torre e
Tasso royal family. From its cliff top location there is a stunning
view of the
sea as it overlooks a small fishing village and is surrounded by
colourful,
extensive gardens. Inside, you can admire the furnishings, paintings,
books and
mementoes collected over centuries; visit its beautiful park and the
World War
2 bunker. It is open from 9.30 to 17.30; closed on Tuesdays. On
Saturday 15th
and Sunday 16th a new part of the park will be open to the public.
During this
week end the entrance ticket will cost an additional Euro 2.00/head.

The Giant Cave - Grotta
Gigante
The
cave is considered the largest
tourist cave in the world, situated on the Triestine Karst and an
exclusive
feature of the cave is the horizontal pendulum, constructed by
university
researchers in order to calculate the slightest movements of the
earth's
crust. The temperature is
constantly around 11º and the tour lasts around one hour. Open from
10.00 to
18.00 (from October: 10.00 - 16.00). Entrance tickets: Euro 11.00; for

CAFES, FOOD
AND WINE IN TRIESTE
Trieste's
historical cafes: The Tommaseo Cafe' (Riva 3 Novembre) and the San
Marco Cafe'
(Via Battisti 13) are places where writers, intellectuals and artists
still
meet. Presentation of books, art exhibits and musical evenings are held
there.
Best ice

Zampolli, in via
Ghega near the train station or in Viale XX Settembre, where ice creams
are
made in the traditional way with over 68 flavours.
NATURE
AT
ITS BEST:
Hiking in Val
Rosandra (half or full day), Trieste
Provided the
weather is fine and sunny, the Val
Rosandra Valley encloses a remarkable natural
environment and a walk through its paths, and by the stream and natural
ponds,
surrounded by typical carsic vegetation is worth it. Make sure you have
good
sneakers on and enough water. Walk along colour-marked footpaths, each
marked
by CAI (Italian Alpine Club), ranging from very easy paths to others
that
require certain ability. There are easily accessible caves for
speleologists
and archaeology lovers. You can reach the Valley by taking Bus
40 from
the Central Train Station in Trieste and get off in Bagnoli della
Rosandra.
"La
Napoleonica" Panoramic route mostly
overlooking the sea, on the Trieste karst. Take Bus 4 from Piazza
Oberdan to the
"Obelisco" and go walking or jogging on the Napoleonica (Napoleon's
path). If you wish, you can take path number 12 (marked by C.A.I -
Italian
Alpine Club) and reach the Sanctuary of Monte Grisa, proceed to Opicina
through
the Via Crucis path (number 12) and finally return to the Obelisk and
take the
bus back to the city.
MISCELLANEOUS
On Sunday 23/9: “Rampigada Santa” Competition (walking, running or biking
uphill) up the steep Via Scala Santa. Registrations to the competition
are open
at Euro 15.00/head. For those who would like to join just for fun,
participation is free of charge! The street will be closed to traffic.
