ART & CULTURE

New Exhibition "Insieme Artisticamente", a collective art show featuring works of 30 artists from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The theme of the exhibition is multiculturalism. Venue: Sala Arturo Fittke, Piazza Piccola (close to piazza Unità). Visiting times every day 10:00 - 13:00/17:00 - 20:00, ongoing until 21 Jan.


"U.S Ultima Sigaretta - Italo Svevo e il Buon Proposito".
Trieste celebrates Italo Svevo's 150th anniversary at palazzo Gopcevich, in via Rossini with a number of events, conferences, and film projections ongoing until 31 March.  Check detailed programme: http://www.150svevo.it

Visit the Sartorio Museum, an ancient 18th century Villa that belonged to a rich merchant family. There are beautiful rooms with antique furniture and important art collections, paintings, jewellery, furnitures, silverware as well as some of the Tiepolo Veneziano works and more recently those of Fittke. Ticket euro 5,50.  The Sartorio is situated in Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII, n.1, open Tuesday - Sunday 9:00 - 13:00. Take bus 30.


Revoltella Museum "Il Violino Viola”, art workshops for children on 14 and 15 January
with Carlotta Bulatti, graphic designer and cartoonist (she collaborates with the Walt Disney) and she is also a professional soloist singer. The aim is to teach and help children to express their creativity whilst listening to classical music (Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven e Tchaikovsky). The workshops are on Saturdayfrom 15:00 - 18:00 and on Sunday  10:00 - 13:00. Last appointments on 28 - 29 January. Each workshop is for a group of max 15 children and costs euro 4,50/child per day and must be booked in advance by calling 040 6754350/273 or by email: biglietteria@comune.trieste.it.


Imaginario Scientifico multimedia show "Altromare"
ongoing until 27 May 2012. The Immaginario Science Centre is located in Grignano (under the Adriatico Guesthouse). The show will take you to the ocean's abysses, underwater volcanoes, coral reefs and tropical islands. The exhibition is open every Sunday from 10:00 - 20:00. Furthermore, there are workshops for children. Reduced entrance ticket for ICTP scientists and staff:  euro 4. MUSIC

Tonight at 21:30 "Gunam" jazz music with ethnic sounds and music pieces produced and performed by singer Alessandra Franco in French, Portuguese and Armenian accompanied by pianist Glauco Venier. Venue: Miela Theatre in piazza Duca degli Abruzzi. Ticket euro 10. http://www.miela.it

Starting on 17 - 28 January, Opera music at the Trieste Verdi Theatre: "Anna Bolena", by Donizetti directed by Bruno Campanella with the Verdi orchestra and choir.

SNOW SEASON IN OUR REGION

The Friulian Dolomite and Carnic Alps offer 133 kilometres of slopes for downhill skiing in the ski resorts of Piancavallo, Tarvisio, Ravascletto-Zoncolan, Forni di Sopra and Sella Nevea-Bovec as well as 200 km for cross-country skiing. Art exhibition in Gorizia "Quattro Secoli di Capolavori" (four centuries of masterpieces) at the Palazzo della Torre in via Carducci 2, ongoing until 15 January with special exhibit of works by Lucas Cranach and a series of drawings by Canaletto.

 

Art exhibition in Treviso : "Manciù, l'Ultimo Imperatore" (Manchu, the last emperor) at the Casa dei Carraresi Museum in via Palestro 33/35. Open Tuesday - Thursday 9:00 - 19:00 and Sun - Sat 9:00 - 20:00. A full collection of items, jewellery, clothing, portraits of the 12 emperors of the Manchu dynasty, paintings by the Chinese artist Jaiang Guofan. Tel: 0422 513150.  http://www.laviadellaseta.info/. Art exhibition at Villa Manin di Passariano in the Province of Udine: "Espressionismo" ongoing until 5 March 2012 with 100 works from the Brücke Museum of Berlin. Works by Kirchner, Heckel, Nolde, Schimdt-Rottluff, Pechstein and Mueller representing the 1905 "Die Brücker " movement in Dresden, forerunner of the expressionist movement.
