ART & CULTURE

"Brindisi Natalizio con gli Artisti", inauguration of a new group art show at the Spazio Bra 11 in via Bramante on Friday 16 Dec at 18:30. The exhibition is ongoing until 14 January and open on Tues - Wed - Thurs 10:00 - 13:00 and Mon - Fri 18:00 - 20:00.

Visit the Sartorio Museum this weekend! There will be guided tours on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 at 10:30 with Ms Krekic and art workshops for children on Sat 17 for age group 3 - 6 from 10:30 - 12:00 and Sunday 18 Dec for age group 6 - 10 ( 10:30 - 12:00). Advance booking for children is necessary, by calling 334 8136870 (mornings) or 328 7465052 (afternoons). The Sartorio is an ancient 18th century Villa that belonged to this rich merchant family. There are beautiful rooms with antique furniture and important art collections such as the Rusconi-Opuich comprising paintings, jewellery, furnitures, silverware as well as some of the Tiepolo Veneziano works and more recently those of Fittke. Revoltella Museum Art exhibition "Corrispondenze d'Arte" ongoing until 31 Dec, at the Contemporary Art Section with new works and installations, crafts, photos dislocated in different areas of the Museum, from the ground level to the 6th floor. Entrance ticket euro 6. Open daily (except Tuesday) from 10:00 - 19:00. Plus art workshops for Children this weekend on Sat 17 and Sun 18 Nov with Carlotta Bulatti, graphic designer and cartoonist (she collaborates with the Walt Disney) and she is also a professional soloist singer. The aim is to teach and help children to express their creativity whilst listening to classical music (Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven e Tchaikovsky). The workshops are on Saturdays from 15:00 - 18:00 and on Sundays from 10:00 - 13:00. Next appointments in 2012: 14 - 15 Jan and 28 - 29 January. "Animali Speciali" (Special animals) by famous Italian cartoonist Altan at Palazzo Costanzi, sala V. Veruda (close to the Trieste municipality - piazza Unità). Timings 10:00 - 13:00 / 17:00 - 20:00. Ongoing until 18 Dec

Imaginario Scientifico multimedia show "Altromare" ongoing until 27 may 2012. The Immaginario Science Centre is located in Grignano (under the Adriatico Guesthouse). The show will take you to the ocean's abysses, underwater volcanoes, coral reefs and tropical islands. The exhibition is open every Sunday from 10:00 - 20:00. Furthermore, there are workshops for children. Reduced entrance ticket for ICTP scientists and staff: euro 4. Lutheran Church Concert in Largo Panfili on Friday 16 Dec at 20:30, "Concert for guitar and orchestra" with Ennio Guerrato Guita and the Orchestra classica del Veneto, directed by Dino Doni, music by Rossini, Legnani, Mozart and Castelnuovo-Tedesco. "Ventagli d'Arpe" (a concert with 10 harp players) on Sunday 18 Dec at 17:00 at the Muggia Verdi theatre with 20 harp musicians, directed by Patrizia Tassini. Revoltella Museum Matinee Concert on Sunday 18 Dec at 11:00 at the Auditorium in via Diaz 27, (bus 8) featuring the choir "Gruppo Femminile della Cappella Civica", directed by Marco Sofianopulo with music by Schubert and Schumann. CINEMA

Revoltella Museum Films on Friday 16 Dec at 19:00: "The Universe of Keith Haring, 1958 - 1990" (Italy France 2007). The film is about the life and career of the artist Keith Haring and the art boom in New York during the 1980s with speakers such as Bill T. Magic performance "Memorie di un fumatore" (Memoirs of a smoker) with magicians and ICTP colleague Valerio Cappellini on Sunday 18 Dec at 17:30 at the Miela theatre in Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi. OUTSIDE TRIESTE

Guided Tour in nature at the Isola della Cona, on Sunday 18 Dec. There will be an expert guide, Claudio Salvalaggio, who will accompany you to the Isonzo river mouth in this beautiful lagoon area. There will be plenty of bird and animal watching during the walk of 3 hours. Cost: 7 euro/each (children up to 14 go free). Villa Manin di Passariano in the Province of Udine

"Espressionismo" at Villa Manin di Passariano in the Province of Udine ongoing until 5 March 2012 with 100 works from the Brücke Museum of Berlin. Works by Kirchner, Heckel, Nolde, Schimdt-Rottluff, Pechstein and Mueller representing the 1905 "Die Brücker " movement in Dresden, forerunner of the expressionist movement.
