BURQA, last days to see the exhibition with paintings, photographs and burqas by Qing Yue, at the Sala Comunale Art Gallery in Piazza Unità 4. Imaginario Scientifico multimedia show "Altromare" ongoing until 27 may 2012. The Immaginario Science Centre is located in Grignano (under the Adriatico Guesthouse). The show will take you to the ocean's abysses, underwater volcanoes, coral reefs and tropical islands. The exhibition is open every Sunday from 10:00 - 20:00. Revoltella Museum Art exhibition "Corrispondenze d' Arte" ongoing until 31 Dec, at the Contemporary Art Section with new works and installations, crafts, photos dislocated in different areas of the Museum, from the ground level to the 6th floor. Entrance ticket euro 6. Open daily (except Tuesday) from 10:00 - 19:00. Plus art workshops for Children this weekend 10 and 11 Nov with Carlotta Bulatti, graphic designer and cartoonist (she collaborates with the Walt Disney) and she is also a professional soloist singer. The aim is to teach and help children to express their creativity whilst listening to classical music (Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven e Tchaikovsky). The workshops are on Saturdays from 15:00 - 18:00 and on Sundays from 10:00 - 13:00.Next appointments on the following dates: 17 - 18 Dec, 14 - 15 Jan and 28 - 29 January. CLASSICAL MUSIC

"UWC for Genova" on Sat 10 Dec at 18:00 at the United World College Auditorium in Duino. The UWC students have organized a show with music, dance performances and poetry recital in collaboration with the Duino Aurisina municipality and the "Trio di Trieste, Scuola Superiore Internazionale di Musica da Camera. The show is free and any money collected will be donated to the flood victims of Genoa.

"Bentornata Operetta" at the Teatro Miela in Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi 1, on Friday 9 Dec at 20:00, a selection of the best Italian Operetta by the Gruppo Canto Lirico with soprano Elisabetta Battaglia and pianist Giovanni Campello. Free entrance.

Saturday 10 Dec at 17:00, the Orchestra Giovanile di Alpe Adria directed by Luigi Pastore, performs music by G. PH. Telemann.

Matinee concert on Sunday 11 Dec at 11:00, featuring the "Ensemble Variabile' with music selections by Beethoven, Bruch and Brahms.

Tartini Music Conservatory on Monday 12 December at 18:00, John Nicholls, professor of neuroscience and neurobiology at Sissa and member of the Royal Society and author of "From neuron to brain" will give a talk on "The ear, what do we know about the perception of sound?” Free entrance. Revoltella Museum Films on Friday 9 Dec at 19:00: Waste lands" by film director Lucy Walker (2010) on the footsteps of artist Vik Muniz and his trip to the largest waste dump in Brazil, "Jardim Gramacho" in the suburbs of Rio. "Gioco che Passione" every Sunday at the Stazione Rogers (Riva Grumula 14), there are interesting talks (in Italian) held at 11:00 on a wide range of topics and issues ranging form philosophy, to aesthetics and Science. This Sunday 11 Dec: Veit Heinichen, Austrian novelist living in Trieste and author of many "thriller stories" based in Trieste will talk about "Plots".

ART OUTSIDE TRIESTE

Art exhibition in Gorizia "Quattro Secoli di Capolavori" (four centuries of masterpieces) at the Palazzo della Torre in via Carducci 2, ongoing until 15 January with special exhibit of works by Lucas Cranach and a series of drawings by Canaletto.

"Cormons Libri 2011", ongoing until 15 Dec, the annual Book and News Festival held in the nearby city of Cormons in the Province of Gorizia with over 6000 visitors every year from all over Italy. This year's theme is " Necessary Happiness". There will be book presentations, special talks with famous writers, journalists and artists, poetry recital and other side events. "Manciù, l'Ultimo Imperatore" (Manchu, the last emperor) in Treviso at the Casa dei Carraresi Museum in via Palestro 33/35. Open Tuesday - Thursday 9:00 - 19:00 and Sun - Sat 9:00 - 20:00. Villa Manin di Passariano in the Province of Udine

"Espressionismo" at Villa Manin di Passariano in the Province of Udine ongoing until 5 March 2012 with 100 works from the Brücke Museum of Berlin. Works by Kirchner, Heckel, Nolde, Schimdt-Rottluff, Pechstein and Mueller representing the 1905 "Die Brücker " movement in Dresden, forerunner of the expressionist movement.
