CLASSICAL MUSIC

Today at 18:00, "San Giusto Concert", the Verdi Orchestra will perform at the Tripcovich Theatre (close to the Train Station) with music by Rossini (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and by Puccini (pieces form the opera Edgar). Entrance ticket euro 6,50 can be purchased at the Verdi Theatre (toll free nr 800090373) or directly one hour before the show at the Tripcovich.


Tartini Music Conservatory "Wednesday Night Concerts", free and open to all prior to booking. Forthcoming on Wednesday 9 Nov at 20:30: Saxophone quartet Riga (in collaboration with the Riga Conservatory in Leetonia) with music pieces by Bach, Dubra, Griffin, Peck, Ligeti and Vivaldi.

ART & CULTURAL EXHIBITIONS

Photography exhibition  "Quetzal" at the LipanjePuntin Art gallery in Via Diaz 4 ongoing until 25 Nov. The artist is Fulvio Eccardy, a biologist and professional photographer who lives in Mexico and has dedicated his life to the preservation of nature and its biodiversity especially the conservation of the biosphere of the Chiapas Mountains. Revoltella Museum "Corrispondenze d' Arte"
at the Contemporary Art Section with new works and installations, crafts, photos dislocated in different areas of the Museum, from the ground level to the 6th floor.  Ongoing until 4 December. Entrance ticket euro 6. Open daily (except Tuesday) from 10:00 - 19:00.


Contemporary Art Exhibition "BIENNALE DIFFUSA
":  This exhibition is an extension of the renown 54th International Venice Biennale event organized by famous art critic Vittorio Sgarbi and is held at "Magazzino 26" in the old port of Trieste. From ICTP, take bus nr 6 and stop in Viale Miramare at the bus stop right after the main entrance of the show, ask the driver in case. It takes a 5-minute walk to reach the building, Magazzino 26. Entrance tickets for ICTP scientists, visitors and staff - bring your ICTP badge along - euro 6. Exhibition on the ground floor of Italian artist and sculptor Pordenone Montanari, who is considered by the international critic as the new Picasso and Cezanne. You can take bus 6 or 36 that will drop you on the main road (viale Miramare) and then proceed by foot.

 

ENTERTAINMENT
The Italian-American Association

MISCELLANEOUS

Today there will be a march by the Bersaglieri Marine Corps celebrating the 150th anniversay of Italian Unity and their landing in Trieste on Nov 3 1918 when the Austro-Hungarian Empire ceded Trieste to Italy. The March will start in Piazza Oberdan at 15:00 and proceed through via Carducci, Corso Italia, the Rive and will end in front of the Stazione Marittima at 16:00 where there will be a commemoration ceremony followed by a concert in Piazza Unita'.

"Mittelciok" is the annual chocolate festival ongoing from today until 6 November from 10:30 - 20:00 in Piazza Ponterosso downtown.

 

"Mercatino dello Sci" 5 - 13 Nov is the annual ski market with all sorts of winter sports equipment and skis snowbaords, boots, clothings and all sorts of gadgets, mainly second hand. You can find good bargains there. It is located at the Aurisina Station, sala del dopolavoro ferroviario, Mon - Fri 16:00 - 19:30 and Sat - sun 10:00 - 19:30. SPECIAL GASTRONOMY AND WINE TOURS

 Wine and olive oil tasting at the Parovel Cellars in San Dorligo della Valle on Sunday 6 November from 10:00 - 17:00. During the day there will be also entertainment with cartoonist Valerio Marini. The guided tours must be previously booked to visit the olive oil mills organized at 10:00, 11:30, 12:30, 15:00 and 16:00. From Sat 5 Nov until Sunday 13 Nov the Parovel cellars will be selling this season's new wine and the "merenda Carsolina" (a special cold-cuts dish with cheeses and honey from their own production). Flavours of Carso. The initiative, conceived to promote the typical Carst cuisine involves 15 restaurants. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event which will focus on pork specialities and sausages, high quality wines (Malvasia, Terrano, Vitovska) noble olive oil, genuine cheese of the Carso region and other typical products. Special Guided Tour outside Trieste:

Visit the famous Mosaic School of Spilimbergo on Sat 5 Nov. There are 2 guided tours organized by the Official Tourist Office of the FVG Region, at 14:00 and at 15:30. Villa Manin di Passariano in the Province of Udine

"Espressionismo" at Villa Manin di Passariano in the Province of Udine ongoing until 5 March 2012 with 100 works from the Brücke Museum of Berlin. Works by Kirchner, Heckel, Nolde, Schimdt-Rottluff, Pechstein and Mueller representing the 1905 "Die Brücker " movement in Dresden, forerunner of the expressionist movement. NEXT WEEK

San Martino in Cantina: Guided tastings in wineries, wine and food pairings, lunches and dinners with winemakers:  organized by Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia taking place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November.
