SPECIAL EVENTS IN TRIESTE:
Saturday 2 July: Inauguration
of
the "Costa Favolosa" cruise ship in Piazza Unità. It is the
largest Italian flagged vessel for Costa Cruises. It was built by
Fincantieri
in the Marghera shipyard of Venice. With its gross tonnage of 114500,
its 951
feet length, 1508 cabins, 13 passenger decks, it can accommodate up to
3 800
passengers and 1068 crew members! Trieste will celebrate this inaugural
ceremony with shops open at night until 22:30, music in Piazza Unità
and

Sunday 3 July at 18:00: Inauguration, for the first time in Trieste, of the Contemporary Art
Exhibition
"BIENNALE DIFFUSA" which is an extension of the Venice Biennale
organized/curated
by famous art critic Vittorio Sgarbi, at "Magazzino 26" in Porto
Vecchio. It is one of the largest hangars (warehouse) built in 1860
under the
Austro-Hungarian Empire when Trieste was the main port of the Empire.
It has
been renovated completely this period just to host this outstanding
exhibit with
works by Italian and international artists (about 170 artists). Our
heartfelt
congratulations to our ICTP colleague Ms Cinzia Giancovich, art name:
Qing Yue,
who is one of the exhibiting artists. The exhibit is ongoing until 27
Nov,
opening times Fri-Sat 10:00 - 23:00 / Sun-Thurs 10:00 - 21:00. Entrance

ART
& CULTURAL EXHIBITIONS
New exhibition: "Senza Titolo", ("Titleless") by artist Tullio Sila at the Sala Comunale d'Arte - Piazza Unita' 4. The artist's works are a personal interpretation of action painting where grey, black and red are the predominant colours and represent the artist's mental, physical and vital energy. The exhibition is ongoing until 17 Jul, 10:00 - 13:00/17:00 - 20:00.
"Essere nel passo del
tempo, opere di Paolo Cervi Kervischer" ("to
be
in the pace of time"), works by Paolo Cervi Kervischer" at Palazzo
Costanzi, Piazza Piccola (close to Piazza Unità), ongoing until 10
July,
opening times: 10:00 - 13:00/17:00 - 20:00).
"Bloomsday 2011" at the Joyce Museum in via Madonna del Mare 13, 2nd floor 1st section of Paolo Colombo's works "Dalla Torre di Stephen alla Stanza di Molly" ("From Stephen's tower to Molly's room") inspired by Joyce's Ulysses and at 2nd section of the artist's works at the Galleria MetroKubo in via dei Capitelli 6563 b. The exhibition is ongoing until 16 July.

GUIDED TOURS
"Trieste, literary
atmospheres, an inspiration for many great writers", on Saturday 18 June at 16:30: A 2 hours guided walking
tour through
the literary history, the anecdotes and the life in the city of some of
the most
outstanding figures in modern literature; on the imaginary and symbolic
footsteps of Italo Svevo, James Joyce, Umberto Saba, Fulvio Tomizza, as
well as
Claudio Magris and Veit Heinichen. The tour is in Italian and English
and costs

Live Music at the Ausonia Beach Club: Friday 1 July: Live Reggae Music, Sat 2 July: Rock Music with "Flower Power" band and Sunday 3 July "Versus" Beatles vs Rolling Stones. OUTSIDE TRIESTE
In Monfalcone: International Music and Dance Festival "Onde Mediterranee" 1 - 15 July. Concerts and performances will take place mainly in the city's main square, Piazza della Repubblica (you can take APT 51 - airport bus). Inauguration night on Friday 1 July at 21:00 with a performance of "Road Runner" and music at 21:30 "Burek Connection," (experimental Balkan music with saxophonist Piero Purini).
