ART & CULTURAL EXHIBITIONS

New exhibition: "Essere nel passo del tempo, opere di Paolo Cervi Kervischer" ("to be in the pace of time, works by Paolo Cervi Kervischer" at Palazzo Costanzi, Piazza Piccola (close to Piazza Unità), ongoing until 10 July, opening times: 10:00 - 13:00/17:00 - 20:00.

 

"Bloomsday 2011" at the Joyce Museum in via Madonna del Mare 13, 2nd floor, 1st section of Paolo Colombo's works "Dalla Torre di Stephen alla Stanza di Molly" ("From Stephen's tower to Molly's room") inspired by Joyce's Ulysses and at 2nd section of the artist's works at the Galleria MetroKubo in via dei Capitelli 6563 b. The exhibition is ongoing until 16 July.

"150 anni d'arte da Fattori a Fontana". On the occasion of the celebrations of the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy, 120 works of famous Italian artists form the 19th and 20th centuries are exhibited at the "Scuderie di Miramare" (ex-horse stables of the Miramare Castle - before the Main Entrance on the right). SPECIAL GUIDED TOURS

"Trieste Mosaico di Culture" ("Trieste, a mosaic of cultures") on Saturday 11 June at 16:30:  A 2 - hours guided walking tour downtown to visit the main cultural and religious sites that represent the ethnic and religious minorities of Trieste.  The tour is in Italian and English and costs euro 5/pers. It is necessary to book your place by calling the FVG Tourist Office in via dell' Orologio 1 (on the corner of Piazza Unità): 040 3478312.

 

INTERESTING TALK (in Italian)

At the Sartorio Museum: "La notte bianca della prevenzione" (" A Sleepless night in favour of prevention") promoted by the Italian league for the fight against cancer of the colon: at 20:00, there will be mini-conference on "the reasons to adhere to colon screening by Dr Franco Zanconati from the University of Trieste. At 20:30: music concert with Piero Santi, followed by refreshments and at 22:00, there will be a free guided tour of the Museum with art expert Dr. Beatrice Malusa'. Free entrance.

The Sartorio Museum is an 18th century villa that belonged to a wealthy local merchant family. You may visit its beautiful rooms with antique furniture and decorative objects and learn about the history of Trieste through the lives of the Sartorio family members. The museum has a number of important art collections such as those of the famous Venetian artist Tiepolo (1696-1770) and more recently, works of Fittke. For more info call 040 301479. FREE ENTERTAINMENT

Live Music in Muggia this weekend at the "Stadio Comunale Paolo Zaccaria" (Stadium) in via dei Mulini 15: Friday 24: "Marsh Mellow Pies (Beatles cover Band), Sat 25: "The Charleston" + dj set and Sunday 26 "In Orbita" Dj set. Triskell Celtic festival ongoing everynight until Sunday 26 June at the Ferdinandeo Park in via Marchesetti in Trieste. Live international bands, folk dances, kiosks with typical Celtic crafts, free workshops for Scottish and Irish dances, creation Celtic jewels and costumes, stalls with food and drinks. MISCELLANEOUS

"Mare e Vitovska" on Friday 24 June: The Duino Castle opens its doors for this annual wine and food tasting event with 25 wine producers from the Italian Carso area and from Slovenia will present their Vitovska wines accompanied by fish specialties prepared by local chefs. The event is organized by the Consorzio Tutela dei Vini Doc Carso and the Provincia di Trieste. You may also visit the Duino Castle and its beautiful gardens (last visit at 17:30). IN VENICE

Venice Biennial - Biennale di Venezia, the 54th International Art Exhibition at the Giardini and Arsenale and other spots in Venice. This year's theme is "ILLUMInations" and is set up in the Central Pavilion forming a single itinerary with 83 artists from all over the world. NEW BOAT LINES SUMMER SERVICE

We wish to inform you that the Summer Boat Service, "Delfino Verde", connecting Trieste to Sistiana via Barcola and Grignano run daily (Monday to Sunday) from 12 June until 13 September.
