INTERESTING TALKS
Tonight, Pamela Volpi from the Associazione Bel Composto will give a talk in Italian on "the origins and development of the Rinascimento (Renaissance)" at 18:00 in via San Nicolo 5, (at the Expo Mittleschool), followed by wine and food tasting. Participation is free prior to booking as there are only 50 seats available. Please call: 349 4695027. Tonight at the San Giovanni Rose Garden from 19:00 - 20:00: Poetry reading by well-known writer Claudio Magris followed by wine and food tasting and an open air piano and flute concert with music by Donizetti, Faure, Rachmaninov, Ravel. Next on 26 May. Bus 6 and 9.
"The Comitato Nucleare e Ragione" (Nuclear committee and Reason) has organized a number of talks in Italian at the Cafe' San Marco in via Battisti 18. On Friday 20 May: "Dalle radiografie alla radioterapia: le radiazione in medicina" from 17:30 - 19:30. On Tues 7 June: "La presenza del radon in ambienti abitativi", Thurs 23 June: "Centrali nucleari, dalla A (atomo) alla U (uranium)".
CLASSICAL MUSIC
TONIGHT: Free concert at the Palazzo della Prefettura in Piazza Unità at 20:30, organized by the Associazione Bel Composto. "Forse che si, Forse che no", classical music from the first period of the Renaissance with the Collinetto Ensemble with music by Busnoys, Desprez, Raulin, Trombocino.
Trieste Verdi Opera: "Gianni Schicchi" by
Puccini and "The Medium"
by Menotti, directed by Matteo Beltrami, ongoing until 24 May. There is a 50% reduction on tickets purchased "last

Tartini Music Conservatory: "Wednesday Night
Concerts" are free and open to all prior to booking. Forthcoming concert on 25 May, A Duo violoncello and piano concert with

"150 anni d'arte da Fattori a Fontana". On the occasion of the celebrations of the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy, 120 works of famous Italian artists form the 19th and 20th centuries are exhibited at the "Scuderie di Miramare" (ex-horse stables of the Miramare Castle - before the Main Entrance on the right). "Osmize aperte" (20 - 22 May) in the village of Samatorza in the Carso with music and entertainment. The "osmiza" is a private farmhouse selling its own wine production and homemade cheeses and hams. On Sunday 22 May: There will also be the annual 2 hrs "friendship walk" starting at 14:30 from the village of Pliskovica in Slovenia to Samatorza with regular shuttle buses form Pliskovica to Samatorza running for this occasion from 14:00 until 21:00. "Sapori Pro Loco" has organized the event "the
art of
food tasting in Friuli Venezia Giulia", at Villa Manin di Passariano,
Codroipo in the Province of Udine on 21 - 22 May.
A rich showcase of food and wine
products from
the region, with music, theatre, sports and folklore in the charming
setting of
the summer residence of the last Doge of Venice. As a promotion, local
food
