Entrance to public museums, monuments, archaeological sites, public libraries and State archives will be free in Trieste  and all over Italy.

CLASSICAL MUSIC

Miramare Castle Concerts every Sunday in the Throne Room at 17:00 until 15 May. This Sunday 10 April" Duo Piano Recital with Monica Secondini and Francesca Pellegrini, music by Mozart, Schumann, Debussy and Brahms. The concert is organized by the Associazione Arte & Musica. Ticket entrance to Castle and concert euro 6/pers. No booking is required but you must be there well in advance in order to find a seat!

"Sunday Concert In Duino" on Sunday 10 April at 11:00: A piano recital with 4 hands with Nakanomai and Morito, music by Mozart, Brahms, Faure' and Ravel
.  The concert is organized by the Scuola Superiore Internazionale di Musica da Camera Trio di Trieste and the UWC. The concert is held at the Auditorium of the United World College in Duino.  Following the concert an aperitif will be served. Take airport 51 bus. Info: 040 3739282


Tartini Music Conservatory "Wednesday Night Concerts", free and open to all prior to booking. Forthcoming concert 13 April "Ecoensemble Trio" (Flute, Oboe and piano), music by Freidlin, Stockhausen, Harizanos and Dring. Next concert Duo piano concert with music by Liszt with Lucia Zarcone and Gabriele Mastrogiovanni.

GUIDED TOURS (in Italian)

On the occasion of "Culture Week": "Itineraio Sveviano" (on the footsteps of Italo Svevo) on Sat 9 April at 10:00. The tour will start with the visit to the Museo Sveviano in via Madonna del Mare n. 13 following this, there will be a walking tour in Trieste up to viale XX settembre where Svevo lived (the tour ends at 13:00). There will be a number of free-guided tours in Trieste

-Sat 9 April at 10:30, "Tergeste Romana" with archaeologist Beatrice Gobbo, meeting point at the Teatro Romano (Roman theatre, opposite the Questura)

-Sunday 10 April at 10:00, a visit to the Castelliere of Slivia in the Carso (ancient fortified castle - now mostly in ruins), meeting point in front of the Church in San Pellagio.

Guided Tours "Cavour & Trieste" at the San Giusto Castle on Sat 9 April at 15:00, Sun 10 at 11:00 (next week Sat 16 April at 15:00 and Sun 17 at 11:00, last Sat 23 April at 15:00. The exhibition highlights the special relationship Cavour had with the city of Trieste, his stay in 1836, and the political and economic importance of the city used as a model for Europe's modernization in the 19th century. ART EXHIBITIONS

 

"Juliet 30 Years", celebrating the 30th anniversary of Juliet Art Magazine, at the Biblioteca Statale in Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII, nr 6. The exhibition is open Mon - Thurs 9:00 - 18:30 and Fri- Sat 9:00 - 13:00, closed on Sunday. Ongoing until 17 April

 

 "Architettura contemporanea in Finlandia" (contemporary architecture in Finland): Architectural projects and design installations of Artek, Martele, Marimekko and Iittala. Ongoing until 8 May at the Revoltella Museum.

 

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, visit the exhibition at the Revoltella Museum: "Arte e Nazione. Dagli Induno a Fattori" (Art and Nation. From the Indunos to Fattori). The collection of works, prints and precious books covering the social, cultural life and history of the struggle for the unification of Italy comes from the Museum's own collection and will be exhibited in the historical apartments of Baron

Revoltella. It is interesting to note that Trieste was part of the Austrian Empire and that the Baron had actively sided with the Austrians in the 1859 because of his numerous financial and commercial connections with the Austrian Empire. The museum is located in via Diaz 27 (take bus 8). Entrance ticket 6,50. You may also visit the Modern Art Gallery. There is a free-guided tour every Sunday at 11:00. Visiting time: 10:00 - 18:00 (closed on Tuesdays).

 

 "Trieste Liberty. Costruire e abitare l'alba del '900", (Trieste Liberty, urban architecture 1900 - 1914) at the Salone degli Incanti - ex Pescheria in Riva Sauro 1. Bus 8.This is an exhibition with beautiful shots of Trieste's buildings, architectural projects and designs during the Liberty period here, highlighting the works of famous local and national architects such as Max Fabiani, Josip Costaperaria, Giuseppe Sommaruga, Giorgio Zaninovich, Romeo Depaoli, Giacomo Zammatio and others. Entrance ticket euro 3 (free for children and teens up to 14). The exhibition is open Mon - Sun 10:00 - 20:00 until 19 June.

Solo exhibition "Colore e Luce" (colour and light), by Nora Carella who presents a number o beautiful water colours inspired by the Venetian lagoons and the city of Venice. Venue: Sala Umberto Veruda at Palazzo Costanzi, Piazza Piccola 2 (close to Piazza Unità). Timing: 10:00 - 13:00/17:00 - 20:00, ongoing until 17 April.

Rossetti Café entertainment

"PerBacco Nait" every Thursday (comedy and music show in Italian) Andro Merku presents and entertains his audience with different guests. Tonight at 22:00, Leonardo Zannier from the Bandomat band. For Children:

You may also visit this an ancient 18th century villa and its beautiful rooms with its antique furniture and learn about the history of Trieste through the lives of the Sartorio family members.
