Special
guided tour to
DUINO
CASTLE
and
REDIPUGLIA
The Duino Castle, built
in the 14th century, is among one of the most attractive
castles in
Europe and is still the official residence of Prince Torre and Tasso.
>From its
cliff top location, it overlooks a small fishing village and is
surrounded by
extensive gardens. Inside you can see the furnishings, pictures, books
and
mementoes collected over the centuries and visit the World War 2
bunker.
Redipuglia is Italy's largest First
World War memorial with the remains of more than one hundred thousand
soldiers.
The Carsic Plateau and the surrounding lands witnessed severe battles
between
the Austrians and Italians during the First World War (1915-1918).
You will visit
the Museum, the
original trenches and the burial spot of the Duke of Aosta, Commander
of the
Third Army that fought in this area during the war.
