Palazzo Revoltella,

house-museum in neo-Renaissance style. It was designed in 1852 for
Baron Pasquale
Revoltella, a wealthy Trieste businessman and art collector. He was one
of the
lead financial supporters for the construction of the Suez Canal. In 1869,
when Baron Revoltella died without heirs, he left everything to the
city of
Trieste starting with his home and all the furnishing, books, and works
of art
it contained. In 1872 a Museum and a Gallery for Modern Art were
established.
