At ICTP: A film projection on
Friday 12 November at 20:30 "A Humanitarian Mission from Trieste to
Albania 2010", illustrating the expedition carried out by members of
the
Club Nord Est 4X4 Trieste (including ICTP colleague Valdo Stasi). The
film will
last approximately one hour and will be shown in the Kastler lecture
Hall at
the Adriatico Guest House in Grignano.
ICTP LaserFest on Saturday 13
November from 10:00 - 16:00, at the Leonardo Building, open to all.
Through
lectures, demonstrations and fun activities, ICTP's LaserFest will help
to
showcase the prominence of the laser in today's world. The day's
activities
include two lectures by Mario Bertolotti, Professor of Physics,
University di
Roma "La Sapienza" at 11:00 and at 14:00, "la storia del laser
da Einstein a Maiman" and two lectures by Gianluca Valentini, Associate
Professor of Physics, Politecnico di Milano on "lasers and cultural
heritage" at 12:00 and 15:00.
CONCERTS IN TRIESTE
"I Concerti della Cometa", at the Lutheran Church on Sun
14 Nov at 17:00, a violin concert with Jovan Kolundzija Szerynfrom
one of
the greatest violinists from ex- Yugoslavia. Music by Bach. The church
is
located in Largo Panfili, behind the central post office. Tickets euro

Wunder Kammer concert at the Rossetti Theatre on
Friday 11 Nov at 20:30, "Canti e Incanti", Baroque music with Fabio Accursio (lute) and Stefano

The Tartini Music Conservatory is celebrating the
opening of its academic year at the Tripcovich Theatre on Sunday 14 Nov
at
18:00 with a concert performed by the Conservatory's best musicians.
The
Tripcovich Theatre is situated Largo Santos 1, close to the Central
Train
Station. Next performances on Wednesday 17 Nov at 20:30 at the Tartini
Music
Conservatory piano recital with Ruta e Sbignevas Ibelhauptas in
collaboration
with the Vilnius music academy, music by Prokoviev, Rachmaninov,
Ciurlionis and
Infante. The Conservatory is situated in via Ghega 12, close to the Central
Train Station. You must book your place by calling the Conservatory the
day before

GUIDED TOURS
"San Martino in Cantina" is the annual wine open cellars event on 13 - 14 Nov when many wine cellars of the Friuli Venezia Giulia open their doors to wine amateurs for wine and food tasting. There is a special "Wine Bus departing at 9:00 on Sunday 14 Nov which will take you to a number of cellars in the region and where you will have the opportunity to taste excellent doc wines and food specialities such as the San Daniele ham and Montasio Cheese. d'Autunno" ongoing until 28 Nov

Parovel wine producer in San Dorligo della Valle (Bagnoli della
Rosandra).
There you can eat a cold cut platter with different kinds of hams and
cheeses
for euro 10 (wines are not included in the price), and you can taste
the newly
produced "novello wine" as well as other well-known wines produced by
this winery. The
"osmizza" will be open from 6 - 14 Nov and from 21 to 28 Nov, Mon -
Fri 17:00 - 23:00 and Sat - Sun 10:00 - 23:00.

ONGOING ART EXHIBITIONS IN TRIESTE
Sartorio Museum: "Le Mille Storie di Sir
Richard
Burton" (1821 - 1890), ongoing until 21 Nov dedicated
to the figure of this British diplomat, an expert traveller and
orientalist of
his time and famous for his translation of the "Thousand and One
Nights" into English. The exhibition covers his works and life with a
special attention to 18 years spent in Trieste as the British Consul.
The
Sartorio Museum is also worth visiting as it is an ancient historic
dwelling
with important art collections and beautiful furniture recalling the
lives of
nobles and rich merchants living in this city during the past
centuries.
Opening times Tues - Sun 9:00 - 13:00 and Wednesdays also in the
afternoon
15:00 - 19:00. The Museum is situated in
Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII in Trieste. Bus 30 or 10.
Cavour & Trieste at the San Giusto Castle ongoing
until June 2011 (Piazza della Cattedrale
3, bus 24
from Train Station). The exhibition highlights the special relationship
Cavour
had with the city of Trieste, his stay in 1836, and the political and
economic
importance of the city used as a model for Europe's modernization in
the 19th

di Camerino, Italian fashion designer, at the Revoltella Museum: "La Revoluzione
del Colore" (the revolution of colour), ongoing until 12 December.

sumptuous, historical dwelling with its original 19th century
furniture, art
collections and sculptures and the
Modern Art Gallery. The museum is

"Munch
e Lo Spirito del Nord", Villa Manin in Passariano di Codroipo in the
province of Udine
For the first time in Italy, “Munch and the Spirit of the North. Scandinavia in the Second Half of the Nineteenth Century” aims to piece together a story that identifies the spirit of the North in painting in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. The exhibition, composed of approximately 120 paintings on loan from Scandinavian museums in particular, but also from several other European and American museums, focuses chiefly on landscapes, although it also features a good number of portraits and figural works. Poetry and Music at the San Marco Café on Sun 14 Nov at 17:30 in via Battisti "Canta il 900 di Umberta Saba" with Bruno Jurvec on the piano, Bruno Sorrentino actor and Fiorella Corradini Jurvec singer; poetry recital from Umberto Saba's works and music from his times. A nice way of visiting this historic coffee place where many artists and writers still meet.
