CLASSICAL
MUSIC
"I Concerti della Cometa", at the Lutheran Church on Sun 7 Nov at 17:00, "concerto armonico", baroque music played by a quartet (violin, bass viol, harpsichord, organ and transverse flute). Revoltella Museum on Sunday 7 Nov at 11:00,

the Nuova Orchestra Ferruccio Busoni, directed by Massimo Belli, music

guided tours included in the price from 10:00 - 12:00 and art workshops
for

"Ensemble
MD7" from Slovenia will play contemporary music by Perez-Tedesco, Harue
Kunieda, Federico Gardella, Larisa Vrhunc and Daniel Perlongo. The Conservatory is situated in

by calling the Conservatory the day before each concert preferably on
Tuesday

ART EXHIBITION
"Trieste e La Sublime Porta", last days at the Museo Petrarchesco Piccolomineo in via Madonna del Mare, 3rd floor. The exhibition offers an interesting overview on the relationship between Trieste and the Ottoman Empire from the 15th century to late 19th century from the political, economic, cultural and artistic point of view. Last guided tours - in Italian: today at 17:00, Sat 6 Nov at 11:00 and Sun (last day) from 10:00 - 11:30.
Mirò, "Il Poeta del Colore" (the poet of colours)
ongoing until 7 November at the Scuderie di Miramare (ex-horse stables
of the
Miramare Castle close to the main entrance gate). The exhibition is a
collection of Mirò's art prints, lithographs, watercolours combined
with poetic
verses by the artist himself. Open from Tues - Sun 10:00 - 18:30.

Sartorio Museum: "Le Mille Storie di Sir Richard
Burton" (1821 - 1890), ongoing until 21 Nov dedicated
to the figure of this British diplomat, an expert traveller and
orientalist of
his time and famous for his translation of the "Thousand and One
Nights" into English. The exhibition covers his works and life with a
special attention to 18 years spent in Trieste as the British Consul.
The
Sartorio Museum is also worth visiting as it is an ancient historic
dwelling
with important art collections and beautiful furniture recalling the
lives of
nobles and rich merchants living in this city during the past
centuries.

afternoon
15:00 - 19:00. The Museum is situated in

Cavour & Trieste at the San Giusto Castle ongoing
until June 2011 (Piazza della Cattedrale
3, bus 24
from Train Station). The exhibition highlights the special relationship
Cavour
had with the city of Trieste, his stay in 1836, and the political and
economic
importance of the city used as a model for Europe's modernization in
the 19th

"Osmizza
d'Autunno", 6 - 28 Nov organized by
Parovel
wine producer in San Dorligo della Valle (Bagnoli della Rosandra).
There you
can eat a cold cut platter with different kinds of hams and cheeses for

(wines are not included in the price), and you can taste the newly
produced
"novello wine" as well as other well-known wines produced by this
winery. The "osmizza"
will be open from 6 - 14 Nov and from 21 to 28 Nov, Mon - Fri 17:00 -
23:00 and

On Sunday 7 Nov, there are free visits to the Parovel
oil pressing mills where you can taste extra virgin olive oils. The
tours will
be at 11:30, 12:30, 15:00 and 16:00 but it is necessary to book your

Guided Walk on Sunday 7 Nov "Dal mare ai monti:
dai pedoci al vin Teran" (from sea to mountains: mussels and Terrano
wine). The itinerary is from Aurisina to Santa Croce, the guide will
focus on
the geography of the Carso, its geology, agriculture and gastronomy.
Meeting
point in the main square of Duino Aurisina (piazza del Municipio) at
9:15. The tour is organized by the
associazione "Curiosi di Natura". The walk is accessible to all (provided you wear good
walking shoes)
and will take 3 hours (9:30 - 12:30). There
is a participation fee of euro 10 for adults and euro 5 for

FILM FESTIVAL IN TRIESTE
Starting next week: "Travelling Africa", an international film festival organized by ACCRI in collaboration with the Festival del Cinema Africano, d'Asia e America Latina at the Fellini Cinema in Viale XX Settembre on 8 - 9 and 10 November. Free entrance to all films. "Mascarades" by Salem Lyes (Algeria), will be projected on Monday 8 November at 20:30. There will also be important side events such as an exhibition on Chad from 2 - 20 Nov at the Biblioteca del Mondo in via Cavana 16/a, a book presentation on 17 Nov and a conference on 19 Nov on marginalization of women in Africa. "Dancing Paradiso" is a disco - club. Every Friday at 22:00, there is Caribbean and Latin American Music for dancing. Free entrance but no free drinks! The Paradiso Dancing Club is located in via de Franceschi 3, close to via Flavia. Take bus 20.

for Children

"Munch
e Lo Spirito del Nord", Villa Manin in Passariano di Codroipo in the
province of Udine
For the first time in Italy, “Munch and the Spirit of the North. Scandinavia in the Second Half of the Nineteenth Century” aims to piece together a story that identifies the spirit of the North in painting in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. The exhibition, composed of approximately 120 paintings on loan from Scandinavian museums in particular, but also from several other European and American museums, focuses chiefly on landscapes, although it also features a good number of portraits and figural works.
