CLASSICAL MUSIC
The Verdi Theatre offers is a 50% reduction on tickets purchased "last minute" (one hour before the show) for all performances directly at the Verdi's ticket office. You may also send an SMS to: 340 4350395 and join the Verdi's mailing list info for last minute seats availability. Thursday 28 Oct: A concert by the Orchestra da Camera "Ferrucio Busoni", directed by Massimo Belli, music Beethoven and Cherubini. Friday 29 and Saturday 30 Oct, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Schumann, the Verdi Symphony Orchestra directed by Maestro Brunello will play Schumann's "Spring"symphony nr.1

ART EXHIBITION
Sartorio Museum: "Le Mille Storie di Sir
Richard
Burton" (1821 - 1890), ongoing until 21Nov dedicated
to the figure of this British diplomat, an expert traveller and
orientalist of
his time and famous for his translation of the "Thousand and One
Nights" into English. The exhibition covers his works and life with a
special attention to 18 years spent in Trieste as the British Consul.
The
Sartorio Museum is also worth visiting as it is an ancient historic
dwelling
with important art collections and beautiful furniture recalling the
lives of
nobles and rich merchants living in this city during the past
centuries.
Opening times Tues - Sun 9:00 - 13:00 and Wednesdays also in the
afternoon
15:00 - 19:00. The Museum is situated in
Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII in Trieste. Bus 30 or 10.
Cavour & Trieste at the San Giusto Castle ongoing
until June 2011 (Piazza della Cattedrale
3, bus 24
from Train Station). The exhibition highlights the special relationship
Cavour
had with the city of Trieste, his stay in 1836, and the political and
economic
importance of the city used as a model for Europe's modernization in
the 19th

Mirò, "Il Poeta del Colore" (the poet of colours)
ongoing until 7 November at the Scuderie di Miramare (ex-horse stables
of the
Miramare Castle close to the main entrance gate). The exhibition is a
collection of Mirò's art prints, lithographs, watercolours combined
with poetic
verses by the artist himself. Open from Tues - Sun 10:00 - 18:30.

Miramare Castle Special: Every
Sunday there are free-guided tours of the Park (in Italian) 11:30 and
15:30.

A botanical
walk - excursion along the Rilke Path on Sunday 31 Oct (Free) organized by the Area Marina Protetta Miramare and the
municipality
of Duino-Aurisina. The meeting point is at the IAT Sisitiana, departure
at
15:00 and return at 18:00. The guided walk is free but booking is
necessary.

Guided Walk to Monte Lanaro on Sun 31 October. The tour is organized by the associazione "Curiosi di
Natura". Monte Lanaro is a natural reserve
park,
situated in the Carso to the north of Opicina, 545 m above sea level,
mostly
covered by forest. From there you can enjoy an incredible view of the
area. The
guided tour is in Italian and will
focus on the botanical characteristics of
the woods, the history and legends of the area. The
walk is accessible to all (provided you wear good walking shoes) and
will take
3 hours (9:30 - 12:30). The meeting point with the guided Meeting point
at 9:15
in Sagrado di Sgonico. . There is a
participation fee of euro 10 for adults and euro 5 for children.

FILM FESTIVALS IN TRIESTE
Latin American Film Festival ongoing until Sunday 31 October at the Miela Theatre in Trieste in Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, close to Central Train Station. See complete programme: http://www.miela.it or http://www.cinelatinotrieste.org
Starting next week: "Travelling Africa", an international film festival organized by ACCRI in collaboration with the Festival del Cinema Africano, d'Asia e America Latina at the Fellini Cinema in Viale XX Settembre on 8 - 9 and 10 November. Free entrance to all films. "Mascarades" by Salem Lyes (Algeria), will be projected on Monday 8 November at 20:30. There will also be important side events such as an exhibition on Tchad from 2 - 20 Nov at the Biblioteca del Mondo in via Cavana 16/a, a book presentation on 17 Nov and a conference on 19 Nov on marginalization of women in Africa. "Munch
e Lo Spirito del Nord" at Villa Manin in Passariano di Codroipo in the
province of Udine
For the first time in Italy, “Munch and the Spirit of the North. Scandinavia in the Second Half of the Nineteenth Century” aims to piece together a story that identifies the spirit of the North in painting in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. The exhibition, composed of approximately 120 paintings on loan from Scandinavian museums in particular, but also from several other European and American museums, focuses chiefly on landscapes, although it also features a good number of portraits and figural works.
