VERDI SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERT SEASON 2010 - 2011

Music by Mozart and Mahler, directed by Stefan Anton Reck on Fri 17 and Sat 18 Sept. There is a 50% reduction on tickets purchased "last minute" (one hour before the show) for all performances directly at the Verdi's ticket office. You may also send an SMS to: 340 4350395 and join the Verdi's mailing list info for last minute seats availability. CLASSICAL MUSIC

Organ Music at the San Giusto Cathedral every Monday in September at 20:30. Check programme http://www.retecivica.trieste.it. Free entrance. Bus 28

Chamber Music at the Auditorium of the United World College, a piano recital by Antilena Nicolas from the Tartini Music Conserrvatory on Sun 19 Sept at 11:00 organized by the Scuola Superiore Internazionale di Musica da Camera Trio di Trieste. Free entrance. Following the concert, an aperitif will be offered to everyone. Bus 51 to Duino.

Miramare Concerts every Friday at 20:30 and ongoing until 17 September with the Tartini Music Conservatory. The concerts are free and held in the Throne Room, but you must pay the entrance ticket to the Castle for the evening: euro 4/head. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.

Revoltella Sunday International Matinee Concert Season 2010 - 11. Sunday 19 Sept at 11:00: the Nuova Orchestra Ferruccio Busoni acccompanied by Nazareno Carusi on the piano plays music by Bach, Liszt and Elgar. Free drinks will be offered after the concert as well and for those who wish there are also free-guided tours of the Museum all-inclusive at 10:00 and 12:00. For parents, there is also an art workshop and guided tour for children aged 7 -10 from 10:00 to 13:00, in order to give them the opportunity to enjoy the concert while their children are visiting the museum. ART EXHIBITION

Inauguration of the International Youth Exhibition "Artefatto 2010 - Candy World" on Sat 18 Sept at 20:30. The exhibition involves 140 Italian and International artists aged 17 - 35 and will take place in different locations in Trieste. However, the inauguration ceremony will take place at the Sala Comunale d'Arte in Piazza Unità 4 with a special multimedia performance, a light scenography and live music with the "Funkalooba" band and will remain open on that day until 24:00. Mirò, "Il Poeta del Colore" (the poet of colours) ongoing until 7 November at the Scuderie di Miramare (ex-horse stables of the Miramare Castle close to the main entrance gate). The exhibition is a collection of Mirò's art prints, lithographs, watercolours combined with poetic verses by the artist himself. Open from Tues - Sun 10:00 - 18:30. Visit the Sartorio Museum, an ancient 18th century Villa of noble Genovese origins, its beautiful furnitures and its numerous art collections such as the Tiepolo Veneziano works of art and more recently those of Fittke and on the first floor you may visit the rich Rusconi - Opuich art collection. The Sartorio Museum is situated in Largo Papa Giovanni XXXIII n.1. Bus 30 and 10. Opening days: Tues - Sun from (9:00 - 13:00), entrance ticket euro 5,50.

 

ENTERTAINMENT

International Film and Art Festival at the Miela Theatre, "Mille Occhi" from 18 - 25 Sept. Daily projections starting at 14:30. "Day" ticket costs 4 euro. Check programme at Http://www.miela.it or http://www.milleocchi.com. Films are in their original soundtracks.

Musicals and shows at the San Giusto Castle: Thurs 16 Sept, Cabaret "Oblivion Show", Fri 17 Sept " a play in Italian "Per Non Morire di Mafia", Sun 19 Sept and Mon 20 Musical: "Jesus Christ Superstar" Tickets are sold at the Rossetti Theatre box office in Viale XX Settembre 45, or directly at the San Giusto Castle on the day of the show at 19:30. OUTSIDE TRIESTE:

"Friuli Doc" 16 - 18 September is a food, wine, art and music festival held every year at the same date and takes places in Udine's city centre and surroundings.
