WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK                       2 - 5 September 2010


ICTP CINEFORUM TONIGHT: "Abre los Ojos' (open your eyes), a Spanish - French - Italian co-production, directed by Alejandro Amenábar, in Spanish with English subtitles. The story of a handsome rich boy who falls in love just to wake up into a nightmare. A play about the perception of reality and the fiction of relationships, the Spanish way. THE FILM WILL BE PROJECTED IN THE MAIN LECTURE HALL AT THE LEONARDO BUILDING at 19:30. FREE ENTRANCE.


CLASSICAL MUSIC (FREE)

Piano Concert at the St. Euphenia and Tecla Church in Grignano on Sat 4 Sept with Viller Bonesi at 21:00. Free entrance.  Next concerts on 11, 18 and 25 Sept. For more info: http://www.ilconcerto.eu


Miramare Concerts every Friday at 20:30 and ongoing until 17 September
with the Tartini Music Conservatory. The concerts are free and held in the Throne Room, but you must pay the entrance ticket to the Castle for the evening: euro 4/head.  Friday 3 Sept: "Romantic North" with Mitsugu Harada on the Double Bass and Aurora Sabia on the piano, traditional Irish music and music by Koussevitzky, Glazunov, Scriabin, Mussorgsky, Gilere and Misek. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.


ART EXHIBITION

"LaBORAtorio" at Palazzo Costanzi, Piazza Piccola  (close to Trieste's Municipality and Piazza Unità), an interesting exhibition on Trieste's famous wind "Bora" with art works by Triestin artists, objects, photos, postcards, films and documentaries recalling Trieste's story and culture. The exhibition is ongoing until 12 Sept, everyday 10:00 - 13:00 /17:00 - 20:00


Mirò, "Il Poeta del Colore"
(the poet of colours) ongoing until 7 November at the Scuderie di Miramare (ex-horse stables of the Miramare Castle close to the main entrance gate). The exhibition is a collection of Mirò's art prints, lithographs, watercolours combined with poetic verses by the artist himself. Open from Tues - Sun 10:00 - 18:30. Entrance ticket euro 5. 


FREE ENTERTAINMENT

Muggia Jazz Festival: This weekend in Piazza Marconi (in case of rain at Muggia's Verdi Theatre) starting at 21:00. Sat 4 Sept: Red Holloway Quartet followed by Mauro Ottolini Orchestra. CINEMA: Free entrance
"Open Door, Teatri a Teatro"; open-air cinema at the Teatrino di San Giovanni in collaboration with the Cappella Underground and Cooperativa Bonaventura at 21:00, films in their original soundtrack with themes related to young people. GUIDED TOURS

On the occasion of the European Day for Jewish Culture on 5 Sept, there will be two special walking tours at 10:00 9 meeting point in Via del Monte) to visit the Jewish Museum and then stroll until the Synagogue and at 16:00 the same with departure from the Synagogue to the Museum. The following Jewish sites will be open to the public: The Synagogue in Piazza Giotti with guided tours at 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00, the Jewish cemetery in via della Pace at 10:00, 11:00 and 12:00 and the Museum open 9:30 - 11:00 / 15:30 - 19:30


OPEN AIR Market and kiosks in Trieste:

The Villa is located in Mossa in the hilly area of the wine producing Collio region and has been the property of the Codelli Barons for over 250 years.
