OPERETTA FESTIVAL IN TRIESTE

"Hommage à Suppé " on Friday 9 July at 20:30 at the Sala Tripcovich with The Verdi Orchestra; soprano Loredana Pellizzari and tenor Massimo Marsi. Ticket prices range from euro 13 to 25.

"Boulevard Operette" at the Miramare Castle on Sat 10 July at 21:00 with actrice and singer Daniela Mazzucato accompanied on the piano by Edoardo Lanza. Ticket euro 20.

"Principessa della Csardas from 10 to 22 July (with performances on 10, 15, 18, 20 and 22) at the Verdi Theatre. Ticket cost from euro10 to 49.

"Sissi nei Luoghi della Storia" from 11 - 23 July (with performances on 14, 16, 17, 21, 23) at 20:30 at the Sala Tripcovich with music by Fritz Kreisler inspired from the same American Musical "Apple Blossom" written for Broadway in 1919 by the same composer.

Classical Music Concert at the Basilica di San Silvestro (close to the Teatro Romano) on Fri 9 July at 20:45. Bach Quartet followed by a Percussions Ensemble "Rond Stix Trio"

ART EXHIBITION

"Raffaella Curiel, Art and Fashion", an exhibition of the International Italian fashion designer from Trieste at the Sala Umberto Veruda in Piazza Piccola 2 (close to Piazza Unità) ongoing until 18 July. The exhibition highlights her close and intimate relationship with art and her connections with international artists during her life. Visiting times: 10:00 - 13:00 / 17:00 - 20:00. On Sunday 11 July there will be a concert in memory of her with the performance of a soprano Marianna Prizzon accompanied by two musicians.

Mirò, "Il Poeta del Colore" (the poet of colours) ongoing until 7 November at the Scuderie di Miramare (ex-horse stables of the Miramare Castle close to the main entrance gate). The exhibition is a collection of Mirò's art prints, lithographs, watercolours combined with poetic verses by the artist himself. Open from Tues - Sun 10:00 - 18:30. Entrance ticket euro 5. 

GUIDED TOURS

The Carsiana Botanical Garden in Sgonico has an organized tour on Sun 11 July at 16:00 and 17:00. The tour focuses on "poisonous plants" in the Carso and in the Region such as the Hellebore, the white Veratrum (often mistaken for the gentian root) and the Daphne plant. Indian Dance show in Piazza Hortis (bus 8) by the Cultural and Sport Association "Mayura" on Friday 9 July at 21:00

Sistiana Bay Nightlife at the Caravella: Music, Bars and Discos. You can get to Sistiana with the airport bus 51 and walk down to the bay or take bus 44 from Piazza Oberdan (longer route through the Carso).  There are free buses on Saturday night departing from Piazza Oberdan. The service is called "Overnight" and is reserved for young people aged 16 - 25 who wish to go to Sistiana at night. Departure from Piazza Oberdan at 22:15, 22:30, 23:30 and 23:45 and return at 1:10, 2:20, 2:50 and 4:15.

Flea Market and Bric à Brac every Friday in August, down in Sistiana Bay, at the "Parco Caravella" from 18:00 - 23:00.

In Koper, Slovenia:  Baladoor Jazz Festival is located in the city centre by the sea in Nazorjev Square. Tonight at 20:30: Eduardo Contizanetti Quartet,"Tango Connections" with Daniele Paciti on the Bandoneon, followed by the Renato Borghetti quartet from Brazil. Free show.

FREE OPEN AIR GYM CLASSES in Barcola from 5 July - 5 September organized by the Associazione Benessere Estate in Movimento. Before each class, you are kindly requested to meet up with your teacher Barcola fountain 5 minutes before. All classes will be held in the "Pineta" area (the woods close to the fountain) and water gym close to the "pedalo" area: Tai Chi classes in on 7, 14 and 21 July from 19:30 - 20:30, Hatha Yoga classes on Wednesdays from 18:30 - 19:30, Water Yoga on Thursdays from 17:45 - 18:45, Peak Pilates on Tuesdays and Fridays from 18:00 - 19:00.
