ART
EXHIBITION
Mirò, "Il Poeta del Colore" (the poet of colours) ongoing until 7 November at the Scuderie di Miramare (ex- horse stables of the Miramare Castle close to the main entrance gate). The exhibition is a collection of Mirò's art prints, lithographs, watercolours combined with poetic verses by the artist himself. Open from Tues - Sun 10:00 - 18:30. Entrance ticket euro 5.
CLASSICAL
MUSIC
Opera at the Trieste Verdi Theatre: Othello, music by Giuseppe Verdi. Performances on 3 - 5 - 6 - 8 June. There is a 50% reduction on tickets purchased "last minute" (one hour before the show) for all performances directly at the Verdi's ticket office. Piano Recital at the
Tartini Music Conservatory on Friday 4 June at 20:30 with Tanel
Joamets. Music
by Mozart, Tubin, Chopin, Skrjabin, Rachmaninov. Free entrance. The Conservatory is
situated in via Ghega 12. You must
book your place by calling the Conservatory the day before each concert
preferably in the morning (tel: 040 6724911) (i.e. Tuesday). Please be there 15 minutes before the

"Schiller per la
Musica": Accordion concert with Italian
and
Slovene musicians, on Saturday 5 June at 17:30 at the Sala Beethoven in
via
Coroneo 15, 2nd floor. Free entrance.

Bach Music on Sun 6 June at 11:30 at the
Lutheran Church in largo Panfili 1
(close to the Central Post Office). Free

GUIDED TOURS
"Ville Aperte in Friuli" on
Sunday 6 June: This initiative gives the
opportunity to visit ancient private Venetian Villas that are normally
closed
to the public. These homes were built from the second half of the 16th
century
when rich Venetian families decided to extend their real estates to the
mainland. At the time, members of
these families were great scholars and art lovers and you may find rich
art
collections in these homes. The villas open to the public on 6 June are
situated mainly in the Province of Udine and you would need a car to
reach them.
There will also be guided tours
every hour from 10:00 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 17:00. Entrance and guided
tours are

Carsiana
Botanical Garden in Sgonico. Carsiana is open Tue – Fri 10:00 /13:00,
Sat and Sun (and holidays) 10:00- 13:00/ 15:00 – 19:00. Take bus 46
from
Piazza Oberdan and then reach Sgonico by buses 42 or 44. There are
guided tours
every Sunday at 16:00 and 17:00. Tours may be organized for a minimum
of 8

Free Concert at the Miela
Theatre: "Sette Note di Speranza" (Seven
notes of hope) on Friday 4 June at 20:30 with Andro Merku', Soul Dieses
and Alessio
de Franzoni. Any money donated will be given to ABIO and the Fondazione
Luchetta Ota D'Angelo Hrovatin for the safeguard of Children in war

"Teatri a Teatro Open
Door 2010" is a theatre and music summer festival organized by the
Provincia di Trieste from 4 June to 26 September. You may check the

(original play by Marsha Norman: 'Night, Mother') by the Contrada
Theatre
Company with Italian actress Ariella Reggio in the main part.
- Jazz Concert in the
Miramare Park with the "Big Band Orchestra RTV" from Slovenia on Sunday 6 June at 20:00. Ticket euro 3 purchased
directly at the
Ticket Point Office (see above).
- For those who are fond
of Latin and Caribbean dancing, the
"Paradiso" dance hall in via De Franceschi 3, is open every Friday
night at 22:00. Free entrance but you must pay for your drink! Take bus
20.
MISCELLANEOUS
New ferry boats to Slovenia and
Croatia from June to
September - from Tuesday
Sunday - to the Slovenian and
Croatian coastal towns of Portorose, Pirano, Parenzo and Rovigno.
