GUIDED TOURS
Free: On the occasion of the
"European
Night for Museums", the Miramare Castle will be open on Sat 15 May all
night from 20:00 to 02:00 with
free-guided tours until 24:00 and free
entrance to the Castle until closure time! There will also be a special
classical music concert at 21:00 in the Throne Room, free entrance on a
first-come first-served basis.
Free Entrance to
the Sartorio Museum on the occasion of the "European Night for
Museums", on Sat 15 May from 20:00 - 24:00. There will also be
a classical music concert combined with a poetry recital at 20:00. The
Sartorio
Museum in Trieste is an ancient 18th century Villa built by a family of
noble
Genovese origins. There are guided tours of the Villa at 10:30 every
Sunday
until 13 June. You may visit the Villa's beautiful rooms with its
antique
furniture and learn about the history of Trieste through the lives of
the
Sartorio family members. The museum has a number of important art
collections
such as the Tiepolo Veneziano works and more recently those of Fittke. For more

"The Evolution of
an idea" at the Immaginario Scientifico in collaboration with WWF
Italy, (Riva Massimiliano e Carlotta 15, in
Grignano beneath
the Adriatico Guest House). The exhibition presents multivision
projections on
themes related to Darwin's theory of evolution from the origins of
species to
biodiversity, on genetics and the mechanisms of reproduction, on
natural selection
and biodiversity. The exhibition is ongoing until 30 May, open only
Sundays

Flea Market and Bric à Brac in Muggia on Sun 16 May
starting at 8:00 in Piazza della Reppublica.
Muggia is situated
opposite the bay of Trieste. You may like to walk around and explore
its
"calli", narrow, picturesque streets and stop over at the main
square, Piazza Marconi and visit the Duomo. There are many bars,
ice-cream
parlours and typical fish restaurants nearby. Take bus 20 from the
Train
Station all the way to the centre of Muggia or if you prefer, take the
"Delfino Verde" shuttle boat from Molo Pescheria, close to Piazza

Forthcoming
event: "CANTINE APERTE' ON 29 AND 30 MAY, "OPEN CELLARS DAY" is a major wine event in the Region with 130 wine
producers opening their cellars to the public. Visitors have the
opportunity to
tour vineyards and explore cellars, taste wines and learn many
interesting
facts about the techniques of wine making. The programme is rounded off
with
art exhibitions, concerts and cultural events and tasting of local
delicacies
in the cellars. On this occasion there
will be a special "Wine Bus" on 30 May departing from the parking
area opposite the Sala Tripcovich close to the Train Station. A wine
specialist
for the tour will accompany you. The programme includes a visit to 4
important
wine producers and wine tasting in their cellars. Departure time is
fixed at
9:30 and return to Trieste will be at around 19:00. The total fee for
the tour
is 35 euro, which also includes a hot meal at the Trattoria La
Bellanotte.
