MUSIC

Opera at the Verdi Theatre of Trieste (close to Piazza Unità, in Riva 3 Novembre, nr 1) "Romeo et Juliette” last performances: today at 20:30 and Saturday at 17:00, music by Charles Gounaud, lyrics in French. There is a 50% reduction on tickets purchased "last minute" (one hour before the show) for all performances directly at the Verdi's ticket office. Sala Tripcovich:
The Verdi Orchestra directed by Julian Kovatchev will perform on Sunday 28 Feb at 17:30. Music by Schubert and Beethoven. You may purchase your ticket directly at the box office in Piazza Libertà 1 (close to the Central Train Station) one hour before the concert at a reduced price.


Miela Theatre in Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi:
Live concert today: "The legendary Eugene Chadbourne meets Arbe Garbe" at 21:30: Chadbourne is a well-know American musician guitar and banjo player, composer and improviser. He will play with the Friulian Folk Band Arbe Garbe. The music combination should be entertaining.


Piano Festival at the Miela on Sat 27 Feb at 21:00 with Giuseppe Andalaro
who is one of the most famous piano soloists on the international scene and has won numerous international music awards.  He will be playing music by Liszt and Schumann Check for more info: http://www.miela.it


Free Concert at the Tartini Music Conservatory every Wednesday evening at 20:30.

ART & EXHIBITIONS


"The Evolution of an idea" at the Immaginario Scientifico in collaboration with WWF Italy
(Riva Massimiliano e Carlotta 15, in Grignano beneath the Adriatico Guest House). The exhibition presents multivision projections on themes related to Darwin's theory of evolution from the origins of species to biodiversity, to genetics and the mecchanisms of reproduction. Exhibition on Polar explorations
at the Museo Nazionale dell"Antartide in Via Weiss 21 (ex -OPP San Giovanni), bus 6 or 9. The exhibition is ongoing till 28 February.


Ongoing Exhibition until 7 March: "The Age of Coubert and Monet" at Villa Manin di Passariano in the province of Udine.
The exhibition presents 120 masterpieces by Corot, Courbet, Monet, Manet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Ensor, Kandinsky and Malevich testifying the diffusion of realism and naturalism in Central and Eastern Europe. The paintings come from European and American museums and European private collections. You may also like to visit the outstanding 17th century Villa that was occupied by Napoleon in the 18th century during his Italian military campaigns. Entrance fee to the exhibition is euro 10. You can reach Villa Main by taking the train to Udine and getting off in Codroipo, then take bus to Passariano. By car: Highway A4 from Trieste - exit Latisana and follow road signs to Codroipo. "Mila e la Notte", an exhibition of famous fashion designer Mila Schön
who passed away a year ago. The exhibition displays 63 unique high-fashion dresses from the 1960s. The exhibit is open daily from 10:00 - 20:00 at the Salone degli Incanti, Riva Nazario Sauro  (close to Piazza Unità), bus 8. Entrance fee euro 3. Ongoing until 18 March. MISCELLANEOUS

Ski in the Region: for those of you who would like to ski or just visit the ski resorts in the Region, there is a wide choice: Piancavallo, Zoncolan, Tarvisio, Sella Nevea or Forni di Sopra. You may rent skis and boots on the spot but not ski suits. There is also a new bus service from Udine Central Bus station that will take you to Tarvisio or Sella Nevea.
