Sat 12 December: Inauguration of the ballet season at the Verdi Theatre with the Stanislavsky Moscow Ballet performing "La Fanciulla di neve" (The snow girl) a tale by Ostrovsky and music by Tchaikovsky, ongoing until 19 Dec. There is a 50% reduction on tickets purchased "last minute" (one hour before the show) for all performances directly at the Verdi's ticket office. Miela Theatre: On the occasion of the event" S/Paesati on human migration, a musical play by the title: "Bilal - Viaggiare, Lavorare, Morire da Clandestini" ( Bilal - to travel, work and die as a clandestine) on Fri 11 at 20:30. Ticket euro 8,00.

Free: Gospel music with the Cadmos Ensemble (4 sopranos from the Verdi Theatre of Trieste) and the Pleiadi Chorus (22 female voices) performing Xmas songs and Gospels in the Dome of Muggia in Piazza Marconi on Sat 12 Dec at 21:00, repeated on 26 Dec in the Lutheran Church of Trieste in Largo Panfili at 18:00.

EXHIBITIONS

New exhibition: "Refused: when wastes turn into Art" ongoing until 18 Dec in via Monfort n.3. Three artists: Adriano Gon, Elena Stoppa and Riccardo Turchet present their works dedicated to the theme of wastes and how to recylce them into Art. The exhibition is promoted by the University of Trieste. Mon - Fri 9:00 - 19:00.

New exhibition "Per filo e per segno" by artist Jasna Merku' in Galleria San Giusto, via Conti 1. Inauguration on Monday 14 December at 18:30. The show is open until 13 January 2010, Mon - Fri 18:00 - 20:00.

"Nuvole a Trieste" with around 200 drawings by six well-known Italian comic-strip designers Alberti, Chendi, Devescovi, Colombani and the Pastovicchio brothers at Palazzo Costanzi, in Piazza Piccola 2 (close to Piazza Unità). The exhibition is open to the public every day from 10:00 - 13:00/ 17:00 - 20:00 until 15 Dec.

 

A Darwin 2009 exhibit at ICTP last days

ICTP's ongoing exhibit at the Leonardo building on Darwin and evolution, celebrating the bicentennial of Darwin' s birth, runs until 11 December. Details are described at http://events.ictp.it/ictp/darwin-evoluzione-e-scienza.
