MUSIC

 

Inauguration of the new concert season at the Verdi Theatre with an exceptional concert directed by Maestro and violinist Uto Ughi on Friday 4 Dec at 20:30. Music by Haydn, Mozart and Pachebel. There is a 50% reduction on tickets purchased "last minute" (one hour before the show) for all performances directly at the Verdi's ticket office. The Orchestra Civica Città di Gorizia will be playing at the Sala Tripcovich (close to Piazza Libertà) on Sat 5 Dec at 20:30 - a music repertoire ranging from symphony to Bossa Nova and rhythmic music. Tickets on the spot.

 

Free: Live music at the Corsia Stadion in Via Battisti 18 (bus 6) at 20:30 on Fri 4 Dec: Blues Mobile Band, and Sat 5 Dec "Dennis and Michelangelo". At Bar Crispy (in Via Crispi 18): Rock'nRoll acoustic band  "Crazy Donkeys".

 

Free: ”Autumn Concerts" at the Tartini Music Conservatory, next Wed 9 Dec: A Flute-Piano Duo, music by Messiaen, Harvey, Maldonado, Donatoni and Bartok. Free entrance on a first-come first-served basis. For the programme see: http://www.conservatorio.trieste.it


EXHIBITIONS

"Nuvole a Trieste" with around 200 drawings by six well-known Italian comic-strip designers Alberti, Chendi, Devescovi, Colombani and the Pastovicchio brothers at Palazzo Costanzi, in Piazza Piccola 2 (close to Piazza Unità) on Sat 28 Nov at 18:00. The exhibition is open to the public every day from 10:00 - 13:00/ 17:00 - 20:00 until 15 Dec.

 

A Darwin 2009 exhibit at ICTP

ICTP's ongoing exhibit at the Leonardo building on Darwin and evolution, celebrating the bicentennial of Darwin' s birth, runs until 11 December. Details are described at http://events.ictp.it/ictp/darwin-evoluzione-e-scienza.


FREE-GUIDED TOURS
Pansepol Travel in collaboration with the Province of Trieste has organized a series of free-guided tours with free bus transportation, a professional guide and an aperitif or coffee break at the end of each tour. Sat 12 Dec in the morning: The drama of the Histrian exodus with a visit to Padriciano's refugee camp and the Museum of the Histrian civilization. In the afternoon: the "Risorgimento" movement in Trieste and a visit to the Museum del Risorgimento and Sacrario Oberdan. Sunday 13 Dec the tours will concentrate on the history of Trieste from 1945 - 1954 with a visit to the "Foibe" of Basovizza and in the afternoon to the "Klein Berlin" shelter and the "Risiera" concentration camp. "Fiera di San Nicolò" from 3 - 8 Dec in Viale XX Settembre. A good occasion to stroll around the kiosks and stands that sell all sorts of items for the Xmas festivities.
