Special event at ICTP:
A Darwin 2009 Symposium and Exhibit

On 24 November at 16:30, ICTP will host a free public lecture to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Darwin's Origin of Species. Titled "Darwin, Evolution and Science", the event will feature talks (in Italian) about the first humans in northeast Italy, the origin of life in the universe, and what Darwin might have discovered had he explored Antarctica. The talks will be held in ICTP's Main Lecture Hall.

ICTP's ongoing exhibit on Darwin and evolution, celebrating the bicentennial of Darwin' s birth, runs until 11 December. The exhibit, which is being held in the main lobby of the Leonardo Building, includes relics of ancient life, from dinosaur eggs to hominid remains, as well as information about Darwin's life and accomplishments. The exhibit also features a special laser-produced hologram of Neanderthal man, as well as demonstrations of how modern physics tools are helping scientists to more accurately date and characterize ancient materials of interest to evolution studies.

"Mattinate Musicali at the Revoltella Museum" has resumed on Sundays at the Auditorium at 11:00. Entrance ticket to the Museum and the concert is euro 6,00. Please purchase your ticket half an hour before the concert in order to find a seat as it is on a first-come first-served basis. BandOrchestra55 on Saturday 21 Nov at 12:00 at the Casa della Musica, in Via dei Capitelli n.3 (Cavana). After the show the musicians will talk about their latest production and drinks will be offered.

For Children: Art Workshop for Children and guided tour at the Sartorio Museum in Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII, 1 20 - 22 Nov. On the occasion of the International Day for Children's Rights, the Associazione Culturale Oplart has organized a series of art workshops in the museum for children aged 7 - 10 and a guided tour of the museum: Fri 20 and Sat 21Nov 17:00 - 18:30 and Sunday 22 Nov 10:30 12:00. "November Conferences" at the Miramare Caslte organized by the "Museo Storico del Castello" every Thursday at 17:00 at the Sala Gabbiani in the Castle. This Thurs 19 Nov: "Ultra Oceanum": a visit to the Castle's Library and a study of Maximilian's book collection on sea explorations during the past centuries. Free Entrance up to 50 seats.
