A Darwin 2009 Symposium
ICTP is hosting an exhibit on Darwin and evolution to celebrate the bicentennial of Darwin' s birth and the 150th anniversary of the Origin of Species. The exhibit, which is being held in the main lobby of the Leonardo Building from 18 November until 11 December, will display relics of ancient life, from dinosaur eggs to hominid remains, as well as information about the life and accomplishments of Charles Darwin.
The exhibit will include a special laser-produced hologram of Neanderthal man, as well as demonstrations of how modern physics tools are helping scientists to more accurately date and characterise ancient materials of interest to evolution studies.
A multimedia programme to mark the opening of the exhibit will take place on 18 November at 16:30 in the Main Lecture Hall. ICTP will also host a related mini-conference titled "Darwin, Evolution and Science" on 24 November starting at 16:30. Details for the events are described at http://events.ictp.it/ictp/darwin-evoluzione-e-scienza.
Both events are open to the public and will be conducted in Italian.
