TOURS

 

The Carsiana Botanical Garden in Sgonico has two guided tours on Sunday 18 Oct at 14:00 and 17:00 with a special focus on "local plants and herbs used in cooking". Entrance fee euro 3,00. Bus 46 from Piazza Oberdan. See: http://carsiana.eu.

 

Free-guided tour in English to the Val Rosandra Valley on Saturday 31 October in the morning with wine and food tasting. Meeting point in Piazza Oberdan at 8:15 with the guide and organizers. Self-organized tour of Trieste’s main sites with an audio guide, everyday from 9:00 - 18:00 (Sundays and holidays: 9:00 - 13:00). You may stroll around the city's main historical sites with 22 stops from Piazza Unità to the "Arco di Riccardo" from the San Giusto hillside to the Verdi Theatre. MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT


"Finestre del Mediterraneo" ( Windows on the Mediterranean)
has a series of concerts in October. On Thurs 16 Oct at 20:30 The Vrujia group from Istria will
play folk music from Istria at the Casa della Musica in Via dei Capitelli 3 (in "Cavana" - close to Piazza Unità).  http://www.medfolk.it


"Street Music" in Piazza Goldoni on Sun 18 Oct at 11:30 with the Berimbau band with music, percussions and samba dance from Brasil. For more info see: http://www.berimbanda.it


Symphony Music Season at the Verdi Theatre of Trieste: Fri 16 Oct at 20:30 and Sat 16 Oct at 18:00, Glinka and Prokoviev directed by Julian Kovatchev.

Piano Recital at the Conservatorio Tartini in Via Ghega nr. 12 on Friday 16 Oct at 20:00. The concert is free. Shoko Nakamatsu plays music by Scarlatti, Haydn, Beethoven, Schuman and Ginestra.

 

Corsia Stadion Pub has organized a series of live concerts on Thurs, Friday and Saturday this month. Via Battisti close to the Galleria Fenice. Bus 6.

 

"Aperitivo in Musica - Musical Aperitif" at the Auditorium of the United World College in Duino every Sunday of October at 11:00 with young talented musicians performing as solists or as an ensemble. The concerts are free. Following the concert, refreshments will be served. Apt bus 51 to Duino.


EXHIBITIONS

H2O Multimediart - with two exhibitions at la Sala Congressi di Porto San Rocco open daily until 18 Oct. Fabio Fonda's digital art exhibition "Mimosa Impudica" and Enzo Pituello's paintings and sculptures.


Solo photography exhibition "Le Vele di Franco Pace"
by Franco Pace at Salone degli Incanti, Riva Nazario Sauro, 1. There are many beautiful, blown up sailing photographs of one of the most famous photographers of the kind with outstanding views. Open until 18 October, 10:00 - 21:00.  Free admittance.


MISCELLANEOUS


Friday 16 October at 17:00: Invitation to an event dedicated to the culture and traditions of the Armenian people " Sogno d'Armenia" (Dream of Armenia) at the Civico Museo Sartorio in Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII in Trieste.
Bus 30 or 10. On this occasion there will be a film projection on the history of the Armenians in Trieste during the 1700s to 1900s, a music concert, a book presentation "La cucina d'Armenia" and refreshments served in the gardens of the Villa Sartorio Mueum with typical Armenian sweets, wine and mint tea accompanied by traditional Armenian music. Free entrance on a first-come first-served basis.


The British Film Club
is offering another season of nine films with the original sound track to be shown at the Ariston cinema, Viale Romolo Gessi 14 (buses 8, 9 and 15). Membership is necessary and can be obtained at the Ufficio Centrale Viaggi in Piazza Unità 6 from Monday 12 to Fri 30 Oct (10:00 - 12:00 / 16:00 - 18:00) for a total of euro 25,00.
