MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT

Symphony Music Season at the Verdi Theatre of Trieste. This week's program on Fri 2 Oct  at 20:30 and Sat 3 Oct at 18:00,  music by Respighi, Copland, Milhaud, Satie and Ravel directed by Paolo Longo. For the Saturday performances only, there is a 50% reduction on tickets purchased "last minute" (one hour before the show) directly at the Verdi's ticket office. "Mattinate Musicali at the Revoltella Museum" every Sunday from October to March in the Auditorium at 11:00. Entrance ticket to the Museum and the concert is euro 6,00.
Please purchase your ticket half an hour before the concert in order to find a seat as it is on a first-come first-served basis. Refreshments and drinks will be offered to the audience and to the musicians after the show! Via Diaz 27, bus 8 or 30 from Train Station, bus 9 or 10 from Piazza Goldoni.

TOURS

On the occasion of the "Castelli Aperti" event held every year in October in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, you may visit the Castle of Muggia on Saturday 3 October  (14:30 - 18:30) and Sunday 4 October (10:00 - 18:30) and also see the sculpture exhibition of the artist and owner of the castle Villi Bossi. Entrance fee to the Castle is euro 6,00/pers. Only this Sunday 4 October: Free guided tour and music concert at the "Civico Museo di Storia Patria" in Via Imbriani nr. 5 (close to Piazza Goldoni) in Trieste from 9:00 - 19:00. There will be a number of free-guided tours (in Italian) starting at 9:45 each followed by a mandolin and guitar concert (same at 11:00, 12:15, 15:45, 17:00) Refreshments will be also offered on the occasion to celebrate the "Giornata Nazionale degli Amici dei Musei".

 

Special Guided Tour on Sat 3 October (in English and Italian) to visit two local wine producing farms in the Carso: Kante and Zidaric. The guided tour costs euro 10,00/pers and includes bus transportation and food and wine tasting. Meeting time at 9:45 and departure at 10:00. The tour will last approximately 3 hours. EXHIBITIONS

Solo photography exhibition "Le Vele di Franco Pace" by Franco Pace at Salone degli Incanti, Riva Nazario Sauro, 1. There are many beautiful, blown up sailing photographs of one of the most famous photographers of the kind with outstanding views. Open until 18 October, 10:00 - 21:00.  Free admittance.

Ongoing exhibition at the Revoltella Museum is: Leonor Fini "L'Italienne de Paris", an Argentine surrealist painter who lived in Trieste in the early part of her life and subsequently moved to Paris  (1907 - 1996). The exhibition presents a huge collection of 150 works coming from important museums and private Italian, French and American collections, illustrating different periods of the artist's works. "Genti di San Spiridione. I Serbi a Trieste 1751 - 1914" (the history of the Serb Minority in Trieste) in collaboration with the General Consulate of Serbia, the religious Serb-Orthodox community of Trieste and the History and Art Museums of Trieste. Ongoing until 4 November, at the San Giusto Castle.


MISCELLANEOUS

The British Film Club is offering another season of nine films with the original sound track to be shown at the Ariston cinema, Viale Romolo Gessi 14 (buses 8, 9 and 15). Membership is necessary and can be obtained at the Ufficio Centrale Viaggi 6 from Monday 12 to Fri 30 Oct (10:00 - 12:00 / 16:00 - 18:00) for a total of euro 25,00. On the occasion of the "Castello di Duino International Poetry Contest"
there will be the presentation of the anthology of poems of the contest at the Auditorium of the Museo Revoltella (in Via Diaz 27) on Fri 2 Oct at 17:00. Mariella Terragni and many young poets from all over the world will read some of the poems. Any revenue from the sale of the book will be donated to the Fondazione Luchetta, Ota D'Angelo, Hrovatin  for child war victims. http://www.fondazioneluchetta.org
