Free guided walking tour of the Natural Reserve Park of
Monte Lanaro in the Carso near Trieste on Saturday 29 August!
You
will visit the Natural Reserve Park Monte Lanaro which is situated in
the Carso
to the north of Opicina.
Monte
Lanaro is a hilly area 545 m above sea level, mostly covered by forest.
From
there you can enjoy an incredible view of the area.
There
will be a guide who will accompany the group and illustrate in English
and
Italian the geographic morphology of the area, some rare species of the
flora
that cannot easily be found in other parts of the region and some
animals such
as the wild cat, the deer, the wild boar, the jackal and the brown bear
from
nearby Slovenia. After the walk, you will be taken to a local farm
where you
will have the opportunity of tasting some local wines, cheeses and hams.
Programme: The
meeting point is at
8:30 in Piazza Oberdan with the
guide. There will be a free bus that will take you to the Carso where
the
guided tour will start.
The excursion will
take 2 hours and is
accessible to all.You should wear comfortable shoes, preferably
sneakers or
trekking shoes, take a rucksack with a jacket/umbrella (in case it
rains) and a
small bottle of water.
At 11:30 you will
be taken to a typical
village where you can taste some local wines, typical homemade cheeses
and
hams. Return time to Piazza Oberdan is scheduled at 13:00.
There are only 15
seats available for ICTP
since the Tour is offered by the Province of Trieste.
If you are

the Info Point and book as soon as possible.
Seats will be distributed on a
