FOR ICTP GUESTS
CIVIDALE TRIP ON SATURDAY 27 JUNE 2009
On Saturday 27 June, we have booked a special guided tour by coach only
for ICTP visitors and families to Cividale (about 60 km from Trieste)
with an English-speaking guide.
Cividale lies on the banks of the river Natisone in the nearby province
of Udine in the local wine-producing area.
It was founded in 50 B.C by Julius Caesar and called Forum Julii (the
market of Julius). Venetian and Celtic remains, however, bear witness
to pre-existent settlements. In 568, with the conquest of the
Longobards, Cividale became the capital of the first Longobard Dukedom
in Italy. It is thus full of interesting Roman archaeological remains
and Medieval antiquities.
The discounted contribution requested for the tour is only 5,00 euro
/head payable when you sign up.
MEETING POINT at 9.20 a.m near Bus stop 6 in Grignano seaside where
you'll see the coach and meet your guide.
DEPARTURE TIME is fixed at 9.30 a.m and return at 1.30 p.m.
Come to the Info Point, LB, and sign up as soon as possible as it is
on
a first-come, first-serve basis.
Don't miss it; it's well worth seeing!
