EXHIBITIONS:

New art show by sculptor Amidano De Marchi at the San Giusto Gallery, downtown, entrance from
ITIS building, via Pascoli 31. The show is entitled "I misteri del legno "  Mysteries of Wood, and there are about a dozen beautiful wooden sculptures displayed in different sizes representing abstract forms, figurative and entwining human and mermaid shapes in cherry, laurel and cypress wood. Open until 30 March, Mondays through Fridays, 18 - 20 hrs.

Art exhibition “Trieste, 26 donne, 26 opere” which displays 26 pieces of work by 26 different female artists, including paintings, sculpture, photography and costume at the Archivio di Stato (via La Marmora 17, 040-390020) until 4 April each Monday and Thursday from 9-17:30 and Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9-13:30. Closed Sunday.

Exhibition by the artist Roberto D’Ambrosio, entitled ’40 anni di pittura’ (40 years of painting) in Palazzo Costanzi (piazza Piccola, 2).  Open until 29 March daily from 10-13 and 17-20. Free entrance.

At the Sala del Giubileo (riva III novembre 2, on the waterfront near piazza Untita’) an exhibition by the artist Guido Coletti entitled “My Gunpowder”, a collection of 40 works prepared using gunpowder. Open until 30 March daily from 16-19.30, Saturdays and Sundays 11-12.30.

At the “Factory-Art” contemporary gallery (via Duca d’Aosta, 6/a) until 28 March the Triestine artist Beatrice Crastini is displaying her project “How much time do you have?” which focuses on the huge amount of time wasted daily waiting: queuing at the bank, post office, supermarket, hanging on the telephone etc. Empty time, which we cannot reclaim.  From Tuesday to Saturday 17-20.

CONFERENCE “BRAIN AWARENESS WEEK” through 24 March. A series of conferences taking place in different auditoriums of the city. Organized by the University of Trieste, SISSA, La Contrada, Science Centre Immaginario Scientifico and the Committee for the Promotion of Neuroscience. See programme and leaflet at the Info Point.

TOURS IN TRIESTE AND SURROUNDINGS

Guided Tour of the Museo Sartorio on Sat 20 and Sun 21 March at 17:00 in Largo Papa Giovanni XXIII n.1 for an all inclusive cost of eur 2,60 ( entrance ticket and tour).

Guided Tour on foot of Trieste’s historical monuments (in Italian and English) at 10:00 each Saturday and Sunday.
