On the occasion of the European Day for Culture, the entrance to the Miramare Castle will be free on Sat 27 and Sun 28 September from 9:00 – 19:00.

SYMPHONY CONCERT AT THE VERDI THEATRE

Friday 26 Sept at 20:30 and Saturday 27 Sept at 18:00, Rachmaninov concert n.3 fro piano and orchestra and Gustav Mahler symphony n.1 “Titano”, directed by Renato Palumbo.  Call free toll number: 800 080 373 or check www.teatroverdi-trieste.com. On Saturday’s performance , there is the possibility to buy your ticket “last minute” (one hour before the concert)  with a reduction of 50%: seat in the stalls: eur 17,50 / first balcony, eur 15,00 / upper circle, eur 8,00.

ART EXHIBITION

“Galleria Illy” 27 Sept – 11 Oct at the Salone degli Incanti (ex- Pescheria), visiting time 10:00 – 20:00 everyday.
On the occasion of ILLY Caffè ‘s 75th anniversary, the famous triestine company has organized a series of events and exhibitions ranging from art , literature, science, gastronomy and  daily connoisseur-tasting courses organized by Illy’s coffee University. “Artefato 2008 – Blitz Estetico”, through Oct 5. A youth art exhibition with artists from Italy and other European countries aged 15 to 35. Four exhibitions taking place in different places. At the Sala Comunale in Piazza Unità, at the Sala Arturo Fittke and Palazzo Costanzi  in Piazza Piccola; visiting times from 10:00 to 13:00 / 17:00 – 20:00 and at the Serre di Villa Revoltella in via Marchesetti 37 from 17:00 to 20:00. CINEMA and FILMCLUBS

INTERNATIONAL FILM AND ART FESTIVAL “I mille Occhi”, Bigger than Life” through 27 September at the Miela Theatre. Italian films will be subtitled in English or French and foreign films will be subtitled in Italian. Check www.imilleocchi.com for programme.

TOURS IN TRIESTE AND SURROUNDINGS

Sat 27 Sept : Guided TourOn Joyce’s footsteps”, an interesting way to learn about James Joyce’s life in Trieste, the houses he lived in, the places he visited, coffee and pastry shops he used to be fond of. Guided Tour by foot of Trieste’s historical monuments (in Italian and English) at 10:30 and at 16:00 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (for this Sat see the above mentioned tour) , Sundays only at 10:30. “PIAZZA EUROPA 2008” Fri 26 Sept – Mon 29 Sept: An International European Open Air Market with stands and kiosks from all over Europe, crafts, clothing, household goods,  food specialties in the streets and squares in the following areas downtown: Ponterosso, Piazza della Borsa, Piazza Sant’Antonio: There will also be an artistic flower exhibition in Piazza Sant’Antonio. 

 

WINE and FOOD EVENTS outside TRIESTE
