MUSIC AND CONCERTS – FREE

Piazza Unità on Friday 5 September
18:00:  “Music Extreme Street Show”, an exhibition of break dance, hip hop, street and rap.
21:00: “Magica La Notte” (magical night), live concert, different bands performing.

Piazza Ponterosso (city centre near the canal):
Thurs 4 Sept,
“Varietà Prestige”, a puppet show at 18:00 and 20:30, followed by a multivision projection show with 4 film reports on Africa at 21:00.
Fri 5 Sept: Radio Zaztava (Balkan folk music)
Sat 6 Sept: Marchos (pop folk patchanka), Sun 7 Sept: La Playa Desnuda (ska rocksteady).

Belly dance show on Friday 5 Sept at the San Marco Caffè in Via Battisti at 21:00 with dancer Yasmin Anuby and the “¾ di Luna” group.

Muggia Jazz Festival
Sat 6 and Sun 7 Sept
in Piazza Marconi from 20:00 to 23:30, with live bands such as Music Academy Jazzfunk and Dukes of Rhythm duo. In case of bad weather, the concerts will be held at the Teatro Verdi in Via S. Giovanni 4 in Muggia.

On the occasion of the Jewish Cultural Day: Free live concert on Sunday 7 September at 21:00 in Piazza Giotti in front of the Synagogue with the Idan Rachel Project:
A multicultural and multiethnic band that has performed in many important capitals of the world. The music is a blend of Ethiopian jazz, electronic sounds, Caribbean rhythms with musicians from Yemen, Surinam and Africa. Limited number of seats; therefore it is advisable to be there around 20:00. Moreover there will be stands with books on Jewish culture and history, kosher food on sale and objects and crafts on sale in support of a charity organization. CONCERTI NEL CASTELLO (Miramare)

Concerts at the Miramare Castle, every Friday in the Throne Room at 20:30, organized by the Conservatorio Tartini. Ticket Eur 4,00. For more info tel: 040.224143
Friday 5 September: “Liederabend” with the Hungarian tenor Maté Gal and the Triestine pianist Elia Macrì with music and lyrics by Beethoven, Haydn, Schubert, Schuman and Strauss.

Multiethnic Open Air Fair Festival in Piazza Ponterosso “Solidarità e Convivenza” (Solidarity and Coexistence)

Through Sun 7 Sept from 10:00 – 24:00: Stands and kiosks with food products and crafts from Africa, Asia, South America and the Middle East, music and entertainment in the square and nearby streets. See www.myspace.com/sottolostessocielo.it

TOURS IN TRIESTE AND SURROUNDINGS

Guided Tour by foot of Trieste’s historical monuments (in Italian and English) at 10:30 and at 16:00 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, Sundays only at 10:30. Free Guided Tour of the Synagogue of Trieste in Piazza Giotti on Sunday 7 Sept, on the occasion of the Jewish Cultural Day, at the following times: 10:00, 11:00, 12:00 and 17:00, 18:00 and 19:00. Free guided tour of the Jewish Cemetery in Via della Pace (bus 34 from Largo Barriera) at 10:00, 11:00 and 16:00. The Jewish museum in Via del Monte 7 will be open from 9:00- 18:30

ART EXHIBITION

“Angeli”, (angels) works of art by Giovanni Pulze at the Serra di Villa Revoltella in Via Marchesetti 37, everyday 16:30 – 19:00.
“Vele e Marine” (sails and marines) 29 artists exhibiting their works at Palazzo Costanzi, Piazza Piccola, a collection of paintings, sculptures and photos, through 14 Sept. 10:00 -13:00 / 17:00 – 20:00.
