ART EXHIBITIONS

“Here, there and everywhere, a journey from Liverpool to Trieste” an exhibition on The Beatles on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of their film “Yellow submarine” at Palazzo Costanzi, Piazza Piccola n.2 (close to Piazza Unità), free entrance and visiting time every day 10:00 – 13:00 / 17:00 – 20:00, through 23 August. http://beatlesherethereeverywhere.blogspot.com

 “Aure”, a photography Exhibition at the Teatro Miela by the Polish photographer and anthropologist Monika Bulaj. A collection of photographs taken around the world searching for harmony between the East and the West. Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, visiting time 18:00 – 22:00.

 “Medioevo a Trieste” (The Middle Ages in Trieste) an important art exhibition on life, culture, society and art  during the Middle Ages in Trieste at the San Giusto Castle Museum. Take bus 24. SOUNDS AND LIGHT SHOW AT THE DUINO CASTLE

Thursday 14 August at 21:00, a sounds and light show at the Duino Castle in the park. A fantasy like interpretation of stories, legends and tales. Tickets Eur 10,00/pers (at Ticket Point in Corso Italia or directly at the Castle). For more info call 040.414177 or 040.208120.

GROTTA GIGANTE SPECIAL

Friday 15 August at 15:00, a special demonstration with a team of Austrian and Italian speleologists who will descend the grotto’s cavity with ropes in memory of their colleagues who discovered the cavity in 1840. (No extra costs on ticket purchase.) You can easily get there by bus 42 from Piazza Oberdan in Trieste and get off at Borgo Grotta-Sgonico. Thursday 14 and Friday 15: “Musica per lo Spirito” (music for the spirit) at 19:15 and 20:45, the Sonore Vocal Ensemble from Oxford and Gabriele Damiani “organ scholar” of Westminster Cathedral  directed by Thomas Primrose at the Beata Vergine del Rosario church in Via dei Rettori near the Questura.

WINE & FOOD FAIR IN TRIESTE AND SURROUNDINGS

“Sapore di Mare” 11- 17 August:  kiosks with fish specialties (mainly Sardines and squids fried in the typical Triestine way) from 17:00 – 24:00 and live music entertainment at 21:00 every day. TOURS IN TRIESTE AND SURROUNDINGS

Guided Tour by foot of Trieste’s historical monuments (in Italian and English) at 10:30 and at 16:00 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, Sundays only at 10:30. MUSEUMS

“Musei di Sera”, is a special initiative only during the month of August in which some  museums (namely the History and Art Museum in Piazza della Cattedrale n 1  will be open at night on special days from 20:00 to 24:00 with special guided tours and a series of free concerts.
