ART EXHIBITIONS

“Aure”, a photography Exhibition at the Teatro Miela by the Polish photographer and anthropologist Monika Bulaj. A collection of photographs taken around the world searching for harmony between the East and the West. Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, visiting time 18:00 – 22:00.

 “Medioevo a Trieste” (The Middle Ages in Trieste) an important art exhibition on life, culture, society and art  during the Middle Ages in Trieste at the San Giusto Castle Museum. Bus 24. SOUNDS AND LIGHT SHOW AT THE DUINO CASTLE

AFROREGGAE MUSIC AT THE BAGNO AUSONIA

Thurs 7 August with the South African Ras Dumisani and his Afrikhaya Band (musicians from France, Jamaica, Ivory Coast, Cambodia, Madagascar, USA and Dominican Republic, at 21:00, ticket Eur 10,00. Organized by the Associazione Globogas, Teatro Miela and the Assessorato alla Cultura. Bus 8.

Grotta Gigante

Thurs 7 August: Free concert on the occasion of the Grotta Gigante’s 100th anniversary (1908 – 2008). “Labirinthum-Natura” with the “Dramasan Ensemble” from Gorizia playing classical medieval music, at 21:00. THEATRE – FREE

Thursday 7 August at the Museo Sartorio (via Duca d’Aosta) a play in Italian at 21:00: “Vetri rotti sulla strada” (broken glass on the street), written and directed by Giulio Settimo. This play has won the recent Palio degli Asinelli (a special competition among all local high schools), the prize “Macchina del Testo” as best original text (Liceo Carducci). The play wishes to develop further the old theme about what is an artist, the criteria with which he/she should be judged, even beyond his/her work or the inspiration behind it. WINE & FOOD FAIR IN TRIESTE AND SURROUNDINGS

Friday 8 and Saturday 9 August: “Acquolina sotto le Stelle” is a wine tasting event with a fish buffet at the Porto San Rocco restaurant in MUGGIA with expert sommeliers and chefs from Italy and Slovenia and music around the swimming pool where you can have a dip. For this occasion a private mini bus for 20 persons will be at your disposal free of charge with regular departures from the dock close to Piazza Unità (Molo Pescheria) at the following times: 18:30, 19:30, 20:30, 21:30 and return. You may also take  with the Delfino Verde boat  leaving from the same dock (return ticket 6,05 euro) at 17:30, 19;35, 20:45, 22:15 and return at 21:30 or 23:30.  Sunday 10 August “Calici di Stelle” is a wine tasting event in Duino- Sistiana Mare at the Parco della Caravella with expert sommeliers who will accompany visitors. Music and entertainment too. See www.comune.duino-aurisina.ts.it. You can reach Sisitiana either by boat with the “Delfino Verde” (last one at 19:20 to Grignano – Trieste) or by apt 51 bus.

Ticket Eur 3,00 (for a group of 7 reduced Eur 2,00). Take buses 42, 44 from Piazza Oberdan, change in Prosecco and take bus 46 to Sgonico. “Musei di Sera”, is a special initiative only during the month of August in which some  museums (namely the History and Art Museum in Piazza della Cattedrale n 1  will be open at night on special days from 20:00 to 24:00 with special guided tours and a series of free concerts.
