ART EXHIBITIONS

“Medioevo a Trieste” (The Middle Ages in Trieste) an important art exhibition on life, culture, society and art  during the Middle Ages in Trieste at the San Giusto Castle Museum. Bus 24. Opening times from July to October 9:00-19:00, ticket entrance eur 5,00. For more info: www.triestecultura.it

“Histria”, an exhibition of restored works of art from Paolo Veneziano to Tiepolo at the Civico Museo Sartorio in Via Duca d’Aosta n.3. Open till 30 September, visiting time: Mon – Fri  10:00 -17:00, Sat 10:00 – 13:00, closed Sundays. Bus 30 Ticket Eur 2,00. Guided tours every Thurs and Friday at 15:30  and Sat at 11:00. You may also visit the Sartorio Museum which is an ancient palace with a rich private collection of furniture, paintings, jewels, silver. Check opening times on website: www.retecivica.trieste.it/triestecultura.

MUSEUMS

“Musei di Sera”, is a special initiative only during the month of August in which some  museums (namely the History and Art Museum in Piazza della Cattedrale n. 1  will be open at night on special days from 20:00 to 24:00 with special guided tours and a series of concerts at the Orto Lapidario near the Castle of San Giusto. CONCERTI NEL CASTELLO (Miramare)

Friday 1 August: Sax recital with the Slovene saxophonist Tadej Kranjc and the pianist Nocolò Sbuelz  play Bach-Busoni, Creston, Beethoven, Schulhoff and Swerts.

OPEN AIR THEATRE AT THE DUINO CASTLE

Thursday 1 August: Middle Ages revival at 21:00. The show is inspired by court entertainment during the medieval times with acrobats and jugulars dressed in medieval costumes (very entertaining for families and children) Ticket Eur 10,00/pers. Friday 1 August: “Nostalgia Giapponesi”, opera music in traditional Japanese dresses by the soprano Watanabe Chikako (accompanied by 9 singers and 3 pianists) at Porto San Rocco (Sala Congressi at 21:00. TOURS IN TRIESTE AND SURROUNDINGS

WINE & FOOD FAIR IN TRIESTE

“Sapori del Golfo” is an open air food festival with kiosks serving fish specialties from the Gulf of Trieste (sardines, squids, etc..), live music and entertainment with “The Billows 85” from 18:00 -24:00. Venue at the ex-Gaslini, every Saturday and Sunday until 14 September. Take bus 8 and get off at the shopping center “Torri d’Europa”.
