Visit the Duino Castle, Panoramic Tour of the Carso, Muggia and San Giusto Castle

On Saturday 12 July, there will be a special guided tour by coach only for ICTP visitors and families with an English-speaking guide.

You will first visit the Duino Castle which was built in the 14th century, overlooking the Gulf of Trieste and surrounded by a beautiful park. It is the home of the Princes della Torre e Tasso and has hosted many illustrious guests and artists through the centuries. One can admire a large variety of precious furnishings, paintings and historical documents.

The tour will continue and take you to Monrupino where you will have a panoramic view of the Carso area, Basovizza, Val Rosandra and the industrial Area of Trieste.

Next stop in Muggia, the Istro-Venitian fishing village on the border with Slovenia. You  will explore its "calli", narrow, picturesque streets flanked by old buildings, admire the main square, Piazza Marconi, visit the Cathedral and stop for refreshments or lunch.

We will take you in the afternoon to Trieste to visit the San Giusto Castle (Saint Just) built between 1470 and 1630, which rises up the hill in the heart of the ancient city centre of Trieste. The museum and armoury have been recently restored and are open to the public. The Cathedral, built in the 14th century and its beautiful mosaics are located right next to the remains of the ancient Roman city dating back to the first and second century.

The tour will end with a short walking tour from San Giusto to Piazza Unità.

 The discounted contribution requested for the tour is only 9,00 euro /head - payable when you sign up at the Info Point.
 Extra costs: Entrance to castles, museums and lunch/refreshments.

MEETING POINT at 9.20 a.m near bus stop 36 in Grignano seaside where you'll see the coach and meet your guide.

DEPARTURE TIME is fixed at 9.30 a.m and return at 17:00 p.m.

Come to the Info Point, Leonardo Building, and sign up as soon as possible as it is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
