Trieste International Exhibition Fair 7 – 15 June, Piazzale de Gasperi. Stands and kiosks with handcrafts from all over the world, tourism, food specialties and a new wellness center. Take bus 18. ART EXHIBITIONS

Inauguration Sat. 7 June, 19.00 - 21.00, "MadeInJapan", a collection of photographical-pictorial works by French artist Romain Erkiletlian at the leading art gallery of Trieste LipanjePuntin artecontemporanea in via Diaz 4 (close to Piazza Unità). Open until 31/7/08, visiting time: Tues - Fri 15.30-19.30; Sat 16.30-19.30.

“Medioevo a Trieste” (the Middle Ages in Trieste) from 1 June – 1 Nov, institutions, art, society. An exhibition at the San Giusto Castle with special itineraries. Take bus nr. 24 from the railway station. Visiting times: 9:00 – 19:00. Check website www.retecivica.it

“Un Magnifico Ritrattista”, Giuseppe Barison, (1853 – 1951), well known for his portraits and water colours, depicting 19th and early 20th century lifestyles in Trieste. At Palazzo Gopcevich in Via Rossini until 29 June, visiting time every day 9:00 – 19:00.

 “L’Italia Era Già Qui”, a new collection of contemporary works of art at the Modern Art Gallery of the Revoltella Museum. 23 May – 30 Oct.

Adriano Visintin, an anthology of 100 sculptures at the Salone degli Incanti (ex-Pescheria), (Riva Nazario Sauro 1, bus 8) 29 May -25 June. Visiting time: 10:00 -13:00 / 16:00 – 22:00.


WINE AND FOOD

Thurs 5 June : “Trieste in Festa, Sagra della Sardella” at Campanelle’s football field. Inauguration at 18:00. Kiosks with sardine specialties (sardoni, typical fish from the Adriatic Sea). Music and entertainment each evening. Open 4 days a week (Thurs to Sun) until 17 August. Bus 33 or C.

Fri 6 June: “Mare e Vitovska” at the Duino Castle on at 18:00. Wine tasting from several leading wine producers in Carso (Zidarich, Kante, Skerk) and fish dishes prepared by Ami Scabar, Stane Puzzer and other chefs of some the best restaurants of the province.
