EVENTS

LA BAVISELA Sports and Entertainment in Trieste continues this week until 4 May. As every year this edition presents a rich sports programme, competitions and races with collateral events.

Sports: Sailing regattas, Ski- Roll competition, Orienteering, Bike Ride, Triathlon, Motorbike, Kids’ Marathon,  culminating on 4 May with the 41 km European Marathon: from Gradisca to Trieste and The “Two-Castles Marathon from Duino to San Giusto.

Music, entertainment and art exhibitions at the Bavisela Village at the Molo IV (after the central railway station and right next to the Miela Theatre). Please check www.bavisela.it  for the complete programme.

ART EXHIBITIONS

URSUS, an old sea crane at Molo IV, an amazing location for an art exhibition! Admire the works of many contemporary artists.  10:30-12:30 and 16:0 -20:00. Open until 11 May.

Marvels of Nature a photography exhibition by Loris Dilena, with pictures taken all around the world. Sala d’Arte Negrisin, Piazza della Repubblica, 4a Muggia. Open 10:00-12:00 and 17:00-19:00, holidays 10:00-12:00. Until 2 May.

TOURS

Guided Tour: “Discover Trieste in the footsteps of Policeman Laurenti”: The famous character of Veit Heinichen’s detective novels set in Trieste. A two-hour walk on Sat 03 May at 10:30. Re-opening of the San Giusto Castle (Saint Just) after restoration works. Built between 1470 and 1630, rises up from the hill in the heart of the ancient city centre of Trieste. Visit the  museum and armoury  inside the castle walls.  Visit  the cathedral built in the 14th century, and admire its beautiful mosaics. You can also see in the surroundings the remains of the ancient Roman city dating back to the first and second century. Take bus 24 from the train station. Open Mon to Sun 9:00 - 17:00. Carsiana Botanical Garden in Sgonico Open Tue – Fri 10:00 /13:00, Sat and Sun (and holidays) 10:00- 13:00/ 15:00 – 19:00. Take bus 46 from Piazza Oberdan and then reach Sgonico by buses 42 or 44.
