EVENTS

“FEST” International Science Media Fair 16–20 April at the Molo IV close to the Miela Theatre (Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, next to the Central Train Station). The heart of this event is a vast interactive bookstore, the purpose of which is to be a laboratory of ideas which experiments new forms of dialogue between science and the general public. Flowers and Plant Show “Horti Tergestini” at the San Giovanni Park. Not only flowers and plants, but also book presentations, conferences and courses on gardening and other related issues and events. On Sat 19, 11:30–17:00 and Sun 20, 10:00–17:00. Buses  6 and 9.

Under 30 No Border: New Far West

Van Leo, an Armenian photographer in Cairo, from 15 March to 25 May, and “Armenians in Trieste from 1700 to 1900, the mark of a nation”, with works of art, documents, photographs witnessing the Armenian community’s life in Trieste in the past centuries. TOURS

On the occasion of “Fest”, there is a guided coach tour on Friday 18 to the Sincrotrone Light Laboratory (Area Science Park) and the Museum of Mineralogy and Petrography (University of Trieste). The bus leaves from the Info Point in Piazza Unità at 10:00 and returns at 13:00. Deadline for booking your seat is Thurs 17 at 14:00, ticket cost Eur 10,00. Free guided tour in Italian only: “La Val Rosandra” (The Rosandra Valley) organized by the Province of Trieste on Sun 20 at 9:00. The walk may take three or four hours with a guide. Meeting point at Draga Sant’Elia near the parking area and the newspaper kiosk. Take bus 51 from Central Train Station until last stop in Draga Sant’Elia. Season Opening of Carsiana Botanical Garden in Sgonico on Sun 20 from 14:00 to 18:00 and from 25 April every day. You can take bus 46 from Piazza Oberdan and then reach Sgonico by buses 42 or 44. Visit the Castle of Muggia on Sun 20. The Consortium for the Safeguard of Castles in the Region has organized an “open day” for a number of castles in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. The Castle of Muggia will be open to the public at the following hours: 11:00, 15:00 and 17:00.
