AI tools survey: the results are out! Thank you for taking part

Dear colleagues,

The IT Committee asked how you use AI tools in your work and what you 
would like from ICTP.

Thank you: 79 colleagues responded, across administrative, scientific 
and postdoctoral staff, and the results are now published:

A few headlines from what you told us:

- Nine in ten respondents already use AI tools for their work, two 
thirds of everyone who answered use them daily.
- Over half of users currently pay for AI tools out of their own pocket.
- The strongest requests were for clear guidance on what is safe to use 
(73%) and training (89% interested), in short, hands-on sessions during 
working hours.
- Privacy, transparency and human oversight topped the list of what an 
ICTP-provided service would have to get right.

As promised when you answered, the survey was confidential and 
non-identifying, and results are reported only in grouped form; the full 
method is described in the report.

The committee will use these results to inform possible institutional 
provision, guidance on safe use, and training, and updates will follow 
as decisions are made.
